Community Redevelopment Agency <br />March 14, 2013 <br />Page 4 of 6 <br />uses, She said that has added a great deal of value to those properties, Ms. Smith explained the change allows for much <br />denser development. <br />In response to the Board's question, Ms. Smith explained that the City will rezone a property if it is compatible with <br />the surrounding area and the process takes approximately 45 days. <br />Mayor Charlene Glancy thanked the Board members for serving on the Community Redevelopment Agency. She <br />said the Board has done tremendous work since 1995. Mayor Glancy said the City Commission is receiving compliments <br />regarding the changes that have been made in the City and how great the City looks. She said the catalyst is the <br />beautification of Concord Park which has been activated by so many events. She said because of that the City has a strong <br />interest from developers for the City Center site. Mayor Glancy felt that once development is started a lot of the CRA's other <br />concerns will begin to take care of themselves as investors see what is happening in the City as it becomes more visual. She <br />said they are getting the word out so Seminole County hopefully will partner with the City to extend the CRA term. <br />Mayor Glancy said she agrees with the Board that the City needs to increase the boundaries of the Community <br />Redevelopment District and hopefully that can be accomplished if the CRA term is extended. She said the City is always <br />trying to develop closer and stronger relationships with Seminole County. Mayor Glancy stated that the City wants to be <br />"business friendly" but within the quality and standard that we want the City to be as we move forward. <br />Mr. Newlon said in conclusion staff is meeting with Seminole County next week to discuss the status of the City's <br />CRA and an update will be provided at the next CRA meeting. He said the CRA needs to provide options so that the City <br />Commission can provide guidance to staff. Mr. Newlon said at the next meeting he would like to discuss the CRA Board's <br />recommendations for the CRA's focus. He said a letter from the CRA Chairman could be sent to the City Commission stating <br />in summary what the CRA has concluded. He said the City Commission will provide guidance as to what is proposed to <br />Seminole County, <br />Seventh Item of Business: Director's Report <br />Ms. Pamela Lynch, Economic Development Coordinator, provided an update on the Brownfield remediation for the <br />property located at the corner of Triplet Lake Drive and US Highway 17/92.
