Casselberry Housing Task Force Report — Commissioner Anthony Aramendia <br />Reported that the Task Force met last week and the focus was on North Casselberry in general, including North <br />Winter Park Drive and amenities that may help improve the neighborhood long term. He added that they <br />would be researching the criteria for applying for funds from the federal Neighborhood Stabilization Program. <br />• Congratulated the Commission on their earlier action to set the tentative millage rate for <br />FY2013 at 5.45 mills. He added that this was four year in a row that the rate would remain <br />the same, and given that the taxable values in the City had dropped 2.5 percent, this would <br />result in a tax reduction to the community. <br />• Reminded the Commission that the closing on the Black's Auto property would occur on <br />Wednesday of this week. <br />• Advised that if the Commission did not object, he would be taking vacation the week of July <br />30- August 3, and that during his absence Chief McNeil would act on his behalf. <br />• Invited Chief McNeil to the podium to brief the Commission on a recent homicide <br />investigation. <br />Chief McNeil gave a brief overview of events leading to the arrest of a person suspected of several robberies <br />and a homicide at the Texaco station in Casselberry. He commended the Police Department staff, and <br />especially Detective Jennifer Chapman, for their outstanding investigative work and coordination with other <br />local law enforcement agencies which resulted in apprehension of the suspect. <br />Mr. Newlon and the Mayor and Commissioners commended Chief McNeil and his staff on their hard work and <br />a job well done. <br />Chief McNeil also advised the Commission that the Police Department would be making a donation of $3,000 <br />from forfeiture funds to the Holocaust Foundation which would be teaching a program within Seminole <br />County on bullying. He stated that the contribution would be from the City as a whole, and would be coming <br />back to the Commission for approval on an upcoming agenda. <br />Advised that the City's settlement offer in the red light camera case was not accepted and the case will <br />be going to the Supreme Court. <br />In response to questions from Commissioner Solomon, Ms. Reischmann gave a brief update on the <br />
