CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION
Minutes of February 11, 2013 — Regular Meeting
Page 6 of 12
Recommendation: The City Manager and the Public Works Director recommended approval of Resolution
13 -2461 and related Budget Amendment #13 -026.
E. Ratification of Reappointment of John Pavlis as the Fifth Member of the Police
Officers' & Firefighters' Pension Board
Introduction: Pursuant to City Code, the fifth member of the Police Officers' & Firefighters' Pension Board
is selected by the Pension Board Members and ratified by the City Commission.
Background: On November 13, 2012 the Pension Board unanimously voted to reappoint John Pavlis as its
fifth member, term effective to December 31, 2014. The Pension Board Attorney has opined that the City's
term limit policy is not applicable to the Pension Board.
Budget Impact: This item has no impact to the City Budget.
Recommendation: The City Manager and the City Clerk recommended that the City Commission ratify the
reappointment of John Pavlis to the Police Officers' & Firefighters' Pension Board, term effective to December
31, 2014.
F. Reappointment of Michael Wadley to the Planning; & Zoning Commission
Introduction: Reappointment of Michael Wadley to the Planning & Zoning Commission is requested.
Background: On February 2, 2013, Michael Wadley sent a letter to the City Manager stating he was resigning
from the Planning & Zoning Commission effective immediately. On February 7, 2013, Mr. Wadley requested
that his resignation letter be rescinded and stated that he would like to continue service on the Planning &
Zoning Commission. These events have not impacted the Planning & Zoning Commission, as their last
meeting was held on January 9, 2013 and their next meeting is scheduled for February 13, 2013.
Discussion: This item is being brought forward since current code and policies are silent regarding
rescinding of a board member resignation.
Budget Impact: This item has no impact to the budget.
Recommendation: The City Manager and the City Clerk recommended the City Commission consider the
reappointment of Michael Wadley to the Planning & Zoning Commission, term effective to January 2014.
G. Excuse of Absence — Commissioner Jon Miller
Introduction: Commissioner Jon Miller has advised that he will be absent from the February 11, 2013 City
Commission meeting as he will be flying out of town on a business trip. He respectfully requests that his
Excuse of Absence be placed on the Consent Agenda for consideration.
