CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of June 25, 2012 — Regular Meeting <br />Page 9 of 14 <br />Additional brief discussion ensued regarding the zoning of the Casselberry Investment Properties site, and the <br />retention and landscaping components of the garden homes project. <br />The Commission expressed appreciation to Mr. Wright and Mr. Daly for addressing their concerns and <br />clarifying some of the issues for them. <br />Budget Impact: There is no impact to the City budget. <br />Recommendation: The Interim City Manager and the Community Development Director recommended <br />approval of Ordinance 12 -1376. <br />MOTION: Commissioner Solomon moved to approve Ordinance 12 -1376 on first reading <br />as presented. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Miller. Motion carried <br />4 -1 by voice vote (Vice Mayor Hufford dissenting). <br />A. Resolution 12 -2388 — Amendment #2 to the Agreement for General Construction <br />Manager at Risk for Projects Less than $2 Million with Wharton- Smith, Inc. for <br />Renovations of the Casselberry Recreation Center <br />The City Clerk read Resolution 12 -2388 by title as follows: <br />"A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA APPROVING AND <br />AUTHORIZING AMENDMENT #2 TO THE AGREEMENT WITH WHARTON- SMITH, INC. FOR <br />GENERAL CONSTRUCTION MANAGER AT RISK FOR PROJECTS LESS THAN $2 MILLION <br />FOR RENOVATIONS AT THE CASSELBERRY RECREATION CENTER; PROVIDING FOR <br />CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY AND EFFECTIVE DATE." <br />Staff Presentation: Luis Cruz, Parks & Facilities Manager, gave a brief overview of the item, stating that the <br />facility was originally constructed in 1982, with the addition of the dance floor side of the building occurring in <br />1988. He explained that the requested renovations would be to the restrooms, kitchen and air conditioning <br />systems, including all equipment and fixtures, which date back to the original construction in 1982. He <br />advised that funding was available for the project, and the project was expected to take approximately four to <br />six weeks. In response to questions from the Commission, Mr. Cruz also explained that partial closing of the <br />main area would be necessary due to demolition and construction, but that part of the center would remain <br />open at the usual times to accommodate ongoing programs with no interruption. He added that the <br />renovations would include ADA upgrades in order to be compliant with the 2012 Florida Building Code. <br />Audience Input: No one came forward to address Resolution 12 -2388. <br />MOTION: Commissioner Aramendia moved to approve Resolution 12 -2388, as presented. <br />Motion was seconded by Commissioner Miller. Motion carried unanimously by <br />voice vote 5 -0. <br />
