CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION Minutes of February 13, 2012 — Regular Meeting Page 5 of 19 BA #12 -019: Explanation of Request: This item seeks Commission approval for the Police Department to donate $1,000.00 to Safe House of Seminole County. On January 19, 2012, the Police Department received a letter from the Executive Director of Safe House requesting financial assistance the City may be able to offer to assist in their cause. The Florida Contraband Forfeiture Act requires "...any law enforcement agency that acquires at least $15,000 pursuant to the Florida Contraband Forfeiture Act within a fiscal year must expend or donate no less than 15 percent of such proceeds for the support or operation of any drug treatment, drug abuse education, drug prevention, crime prevention, safe neighborhood, or school resource officer program(s). The local law enforcement agency has the discretion to determine which program(s) will receive the designated proceeds." The Police Department is requesting to provide financial assistance to Safe House in the amount of $1,000.00. The monies will be taken from the Police Department's State Law Enforcement Trust Fund. Account Number Account Description Amount Increase: 104 - 0610 -521 -49.00 Other Current Charges and Obligations $1,000 Decrease: 104 - 0000 - 389.90 -00 Non - Operating Sources $1,000 Recommendation: The Interim City Manager and Police Chief recommended Commission approval of the $1,000.00 donation to Safe House of Serninole County and related Budget Amendment #12 -019. I. Purchase of an Air Conditioning Unit and Related Budget Amendment #12 -021 Introduction: Consideration to approve the purchase of a new air conditioning compressor unit and air handler for the Public Works Sign Shop in the amount of $3,375.00 and related Budget Amendment #12-021 is requested. Budget Impact: There is an impact to the budget in the amount of $3,375.00. Funding will be decreased in Road and Street Facilities account #001- 0720 - 541.46 -00 and increased in the Public Works /Road and Street Building Improvement account #001- 0720 - 541.62 -25. BA # 12 -021: Explanation of Request: This item seeks City Commission approval to provide funding for the purchase of a new air conditioning unit and air handler for the Public Works Sign Shop. The Sign Shop at the Public Works compound has an air conditioning unit that mechanically stopped operating. The lowest responsive and responsible quote in the amount of $3,375.00 was received from Gembecki Mechanical Services, Inc. Funding for the unit will come from the Road and Street Facilities Repairs and Maintenance account (001- 0720- 541.46- 00).
