Mr, Raasch reviewed a PowerPoint presentation (a copy is attached and made a part of the minutes). <br />Mr. Guzman interrupted Mr. Raasch's presentation stating that this item was continued for a reason and he felt it <br />was redundant to review the information that was presented at the last meeting. He said he wanted to hear any new <br />information regarding the variance request. Mr. Guzman made a motion to incorporate as an exhibit to today's hearing <br />the minutes from the May 26, 2011 meeting including all the information that was presented at that meeting. Mr. <br />Weinroth seconded the motion. <br />The Board was polled. <br />Mr. Guzman Yes <br />Mr. Weinroth Yes <br />Ms. Gauvin Yes <br />The motion passed unanimously. <br />Mr. Guzman stated that the motion to continue the meeting was to allow the applicant time to work with the City <br />to find alternatives to the requested variance. Mr. Raasch stated that the applicant has submitted an analysis of the <br />criteria which was included with the staff report, Mr. Raasch distributed an email from Vice-Mayor Miller dated May 28, <br />2011 and a signed petition from homeowners in the Brittany Garden's subdivision in favor of the variance (copies are <br />attached and made a part of the minutes). <br />Ms. Gauvin asked the applicant to come forward. Ms. Joan Bittle, 2649 Queen Mary Place, Maitland, Florida <br />came forward. Ms. Bittle said she provided a letter to staff dated June 9, 2011 outlining the special conditions and <br />circumstances for their variance. Mr. Guzman stated that the letter Ms. Bittle referenced was attached to the staff report <br />as Attachment D. Ms, Bittle reviewed her letter dated June 9, 2011 outlining the burden of proof for granting their <br />variance (a copy is attached and made a part of the minutes). <br />Ms. Bittle stated that several of her neighbors were unable to attend tonight's meeting. Ms. Bittle said she <br />submitted a signed petition to the Board from several of the neighbors in the Brittany Garden's subdivision stating they <br />had no objections to the construction of a roof porch cover (a copy is attached and made a part of the minutes). <br />Ms. Bittle stated that they are unable to use their rear patio for at least eight months of the year due to the heat. <br />She said trees were lost due to the hurricanes and the screen enclosure does not block the sun.
