CITY OF CASSELERRY <br />PARKS ~ RECREATION ADVISORY OARD <br />The City of Casselberry's Parks & Recreation Advisory Board held its regular meeting <br />Tuesday, June 14, 2011 in the City of Casselberry Commission Chambers, 95 Triplet <br />Lake Drive, Casselberry, Florida. June Herron called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br />Board Members Present: <br />June Herron <br />Jessica Eckhart <br />Cheryl Evans <br />Daphne Keys <br />Board Members Absent: <br />Michael Mason (Excused) <br />Staff Present: <br />Maria Simmons, Recreation Manager <br />Alicia Kardell, Recording Secretary <br />Approval of Minutes <br />Ms. Keys moved to approve the May 10t" minutes as written. Ms. Evans seconded the <br />motion. The motion passed unanimously. <br />Items for Discussion <br />® Senior Center Name Change and Sculpture Center Name Change-Ms. <br />Simmons added these items to the agenda. <br />o The Sr. Center was never officially renamed to the Recreation Center. <br />Ms. Herron made a motion to support a name change from Sr. Center to <br />Recreation Center, thus allowing all types of recreation for all ages. Ms. <br />Eckhart seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. <br />o Ms. Keys made a motion to support the naming of Casselberry's Fire <br />House Sculpture Studio. Ms. Herron seconded the motion. The motion <br />unanimous <br />® July DRAB Meeting Cancellation <br />o Ms. Evans made a motion to cancel the July meeting. Ms. Keys seconded <br />the motion. The motion passed unanimously. <br />Staff Report <br />® Ms. Simmons said the RunYak was a great success. All 45 spaces were sold <br />out. Most of the participants lived outside of Casselberry. The Police and Fire <br />Departments were very involved and assisted with closing the streets, patrolling <br />on bike and by boat. Travel Country plans to double the number of participants <br />next year. Approximately $900 was raised for youth programs in the City. <br />® The next event with Travel Country will be Paddle Fest on July 23. This will <br />include demos of correct techniques for canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards. <br />Participants will also be able to try out different equipment on the lake. Food will <br />be available for purchase. <br />
