<br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AMENDING SECTION
<br />157.230 ET SEQ OF THE CODE OF ORD%NANCES OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY,
<br />FLORIDA, ENTITLED "SIGNS"; PROVIDING FOR PURPOSE AND INTENT;
<br />PROVIDING FOR DEFINITIONS; ESTABLISHING ON-PREMISES SIGN STANDARDS
<br />FOR BOTH PERMANENT AND TEMPORARY SIGNS; ESTABLISHING GENERAL
<br />PROVISIONS; PROHIBITING CERTAIN SIGNS; PROVIDING FOR NONCONFORMING
<br />SIGNS; REQUIR%NG BUILDING PERMITS; PROVIDING FOR CODIF%CAT%ON,
<br />CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
<br />WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Casselberry, Florida, finds
<br />that minimum sign regulations are necessary to protect the character of
<br />residential, business, commercial, and industrial areas in the City and to
<br />promote the health, safety, 'and general welfare of the citizens of the City of
<br />Casselberry; and
<br />WHEREAS, the minimum sign regulations adopted by the City of
<br />Casselberry, Florida, are specifically intended, among other things, to avoid
<br />excessive competition and clutter among commercial sign displays in the demand
<br />for public attention.
<br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
<br />CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
<br />SECTION I. That Section 157.230 et seq of the City Code of the City of
<br />Casselberry, Florida, is hereby amended to read as follows:
<br />SECTION II. Purpose and intent. The regulations and requirements herein set
<br />forth shall be the minimum requirements to promote the public health, safety, and
<br />general welfare and to protect the character of residential, business,
<br />commercial, and industrial areas throughout the City of Casselberry.
<br />It is intended that signs placed on land or on a building for the purpose of
<br />identification or for advertising a use conducted thereon or therein shall be
<br />deemed to be accessory and incidental to the subject land, building, or use.
<br />With respect to signs advertising business uses, it is specifically intended,
<br />among other things, to avoid excessive competition and clutter among sign
<br />displays in the demand for public attention. Therefore, the display of signs
<br />shall be appropriate to the land, building, or use to which they are appurtenant
<br />and be adequate, but not excessive, for the intended purpose of identification
<br />or advertisement.
<br />SECT%ON %II.
<br />(A) Definitions
<br />Sign: Any surface, fabric, device, or display which bears letters,
<br />pictorial or sculptured matter, or combination of materials, including forms
<br />shaped to resemble any human, animal, or product, designed to convey information
<br />visually and which is exposed to public view. For purposes of this Ordinance,
