Planning & Zoning Commission/ <br />Local Planning Agency <br />March 9, 2011 <br />Page 5 <br />The motion passed unanimously. <br />Ninth Item of Business: Other Business <br />Cash for Gold Business Uses ®information <br />Liens for landscape violations <br />Mr. Jason Sorensen, Planning Technician, reviewed the information provided in his memorandum dated <br />March 9, 2011, to the City of Casselberry Planning and Zoning Commission (a copy is on file in the Community <br />Development Department). Mr. Sorensen also presented a PowerPoint presentation (a copy is attached and made a <br />part of the minutes). A general discussion ensued regarding extending the waiting period, requiring business to post <br />market price, distance separation, signage and secondhand dealers' licenses. A brief discussion ensued regarding <br />placing a moratorium on cash for gold businesses. In response to the Commission's question regarding adding any <br />other non-traditional uses to the Code, Ms. Smith stated that she would check with the Police Department to see if <br />there are any other business uses that should be included in the ordinance, <br />Ms. Smith stated that a motion from the Commission regarding moving forward with changes to the Code for <br />cash for gold businesses would be considered as legislation in process; therefore a moratorium would not be <br />necessary. <br />Mr. Aramendia made a motion for staff to move forward with cash for gold regulations and identifying as <br />non-traditional usage, with distance separation requirements, displaying market price for gold and the waiting period <br />to coincide with Seminole County's regulations, Mr. Van Meter seconded the motion. <br />The Board was polled. <br />Mr. Lutz Yes <br />Mr. Meadows Yes <br />Mr. Hale Yes <br />Mr. Van Meter Yes <br />Mr. Parkhurst Yes <br />Mr. Aramendia Yes <br />Mr. Bakalla Yes <br />The motion passed unanimously. <br />
