In follow up to
that letter, staff: met with Ms. Nicole Guillet, Growth Management Director for Seminole
County.
Staff walked away from that meeting with a perception that securing an additional 10
years to the life of the Casselberry CRA may be difficult at this time. The County
Commission understands that several CRAs sunset between 2015 and 2017. Allowing
these CRAs to sunset will provide additional property taxes to the County's general fund
budget which is under stress due to declining property values.
On October 26th, however, the County Commission voted in favor of creating a new 30-
year CRA for the City of Oviedo. The structure of that CRA includes County financial
participation at a 50% level beginning either in 2017 or when taxable values for all CRA
properties exceed 115% of the Base Year ta><able value. The County's financial
involvement is limited to 20 years.
Leading the support for creation of the Oviedo CRA was Seminole County
Commissioner Bob Dallari (former Oviedo City Councilman). Also voting to support the
Oviedo CRA were Commissioners John Horan and Dick .Van Der Weide. Voting in
opposition were Commissioners Henley and Carey.
The documentation for the creation of the Oviedo CRA is attached
xxnxnx~ racePlharnr nrn
