United States Presidential elections and to increase the terms of the Mayor and all City Commissioners from three to four years, effective November 7, 2000, as provided in Ordinance No. 00- 990? Yes -For amending Charter No -Against amending Charter Section 3. Coordination with Supervisor of lections. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to instruct and coordinate with the Supervisor of Elections of Seminole Countyto include the above-stated referendum question on the ballotforthe general election to be held on November7, 2000 and to provide forthe printing of ballots, the conduct of the election, including absentee procedures and the canvassing of returns. Section 4. Notice of Referendum Election. General notice shall be first published at least thirty (30) days prior to the November 7, 2000 election. The publication of said notice shall be made at least twice, once in the fifth week and once in the third week prior to the week in which the election is held, in the manner provided in Section 100.342, Florida Statutes (1999). Section 5. Conflicts. All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict with any of the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 6. Severability. Should any section or provision of this Ordinance, or any portion hereof, any paragraph, sentence or word be declared by a Court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remainder of this Ordinance. To the greatest extent allowed by law, this Ordinance shall be declared severable. Section 7. Effective ®ates. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately Ordinance No. 00-990 Page 5 of 6
