Police/Fire Pe~tsion Boas°d Meeting
February I7, 2009
Page 4
A discussion ensued about whether it would be more advantageous to merge the Share Plan
benefit into the one ordinance or to prepare a separate ordinance that would require separate
adoption by the City Commission. The concern raised was that if the City Commissions was to
find that it did not favor one proposed benefit that it would not bar the other if the rivo were
presented in separate ordinaa~ces.
Discussion broadened to consider whether to make optional changes described within the
Attorney's report now authorised by the Florida legislature. It was decided to take no action to
exterid the terms of trustees from two years to four years or to allow retirees to report payments
made for health insurance to the PIan for exclusion from taxable benefits. It was decided that the
Plan should allow the buyback of time carved with eligible out of state agencies.
MOT)fON. Moved by William Nas to merge tl~e Share plan into the ordinance already
prepared to include the DROP plan and other changes and to allow the
buyback of time for service to eiigible out of state agencies. Motion was
seconded by Daniel Glancy and carried unanimously on a S - 0 voice vate._
10.
