Ms. Sheppard asked if there was a particular place the City would #'ind this person. Mr. Cruz <br />said it is passible that the person would be hired as an intern or seasonal worker. Many of the <br />City's interns have come from UCF. <br />Ms. Herron asked what the amount of this grant would be. Mr. Cruz said the total program <br />amount would cost $24,960, of which the City would be reimbursed $12,480. <br />Ms. Sheppard asked where the grant comes from. Mr. Cruz replied that the grant comes from the <br />US Division of Forestry and is administered by the FL Division of Forestry. <br />IVs. Herron asked where the impact fee for trees that are cut down goes to. Mr. Cruz said this <br />money goes into the City's tree fired. Ms. Herron also asked if the City was competing with <br />other cities for this grant. Mr•. Cruz said that yes, the City would be competing for this grant. <br />Mr. Spence made a motion to support this grant application. Ms. Sheppard seconded the motion. <br />The motion passed unanimously 4-0. <br />Bike Trail Update <br />The City is in discussion with Metro Life Church, Progress 1/nergy, and Deer Run and is trying <br />to get the easements approved by the end of this month. There will he another public meeting <br />after the easements have been approved and the plans are at 100%. <br />Mr. Mason commented that the average citizen doesn't understand where the money comes from <br />for the bike trails. He asked if there was any way that the City could put a billboard or• sign <br />stating how certain projects ar•e being fimded. Mr. Cruz said that the City puts dedication <br />plaques in new parks acrd other places stating this information. He also said the information <br />about the bike trail funding is on the City website. <br />Manaaer's Renort <br />- Kelly Roberts, a Planner with the Cornrntrnity Development Dept., will be attending the <br />April DRAB meeting. She will be conducting a plartrring exercise with the Board. <br />- The Jazz Concert was well attended considering the tiveather was very cold. <br />- Mr. Cruz said he attended the Little League Opening Day Parade and was impressed with <br />the parent supportlvohmteers. <br />Board Member Comments <br />Mr. Mason commented on the Parks maintenance staff. He said they are very helpfirl and <br />respectfirl. Mr. Cruz thanked him and said he r~votrld pass this on to his staff. <br />Mc. Mason asked about the shed at Wirz Park. Mr. Cruz asked Mr. Mason to give him a call to <br />discuss this firrlher. <br />Adiournment <br />Butch Spence made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
