CASSELBERRY PARKS & RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD <br />Casselberry Recrea#ion Center <br />200 N. Triplet Labe Dr., Casselt~erry, I'L 32707 <br />A regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board was held Tuesday, Mazch 9, 2010 <br />at the Casselberry Recreation Center located at 200 N. Triplet Lake Drive. Butch Spence <br />called the meeting to order at 7:02 p,zn. <br />Board Members Present: <br />Butch Spence, Phyllis Sheppard, Michael Mason, Tune Herron <br />Board Members AFzsent: <br />None <br />Staff Present: <br />Luis Cruz {Parks and Facilities Manager), Alicia Kardell {Admin. Services Office Assistant) <br />Audience Present; <br />John Casselberry <br />A } naval of Minutes. <br />Butch Spence made a motion to approve the February 12f~' minutes as written. Phyllis Sheppard <br />seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously 3-0 {Mr. Mason arrived after the minutes <br />were approved). <br />Audience Participation: <br />Mr. Jahn Casselberry, 700 S. Lost Lake Lane, asked Mr. Cruz if he was working with the City <br />when the Stznzrytown Park playground equipment was installed. He said it looks like the <br />equipment has been moved closer to the trees. The area looks overgrown and may be a safety <br />hazard. Mr. Cruz said he wasn't working with the City when the equipment was installed, but <br />he'd look into this. <br />LWCI+, Grant <br />Land Water Conservation Fund-Mr. Cruz said he'd be like to strike this from the agenda for this <br />evening. <br />Urban and Coinmuni Forest GraEit <br />The City would like to apply far the Urban azzd Community Forest grant, if awarded, the funds <br />would be used to hire a temporary employee for 1 year. This employee would be an urban <br />forestzy tecluiician. The job responsibilities of this person would include: <br />• maintaining and updating the City's tree inventory <br />+ assist with grant research and writing <br />• assist with planztinglimplementation of the Arbor Day Celebration <br />+ educate community on the importance of tree planting and proper planting techniques <br />• implement neighborhood tree planting pz•ograzns and workshops <br />• any other projects assigned by Parks and Facilities Manager <br />
