Future Trail Discussion: <br />Mr. Don Martin, Community Development Director, gave a presentation to the PRAB about <br />future/ long term improvements to build the City up. He talked about increasing desirability and <br />demand to bring more people into the City. The Community Development Dept. is looking into <br />how to attract young families into Casselberry. Mr. Martin also explained how the City is <br />planning a targeted tree program to upgrade certain areas and neighborhoods. <br />Mr. Martin spoke about the possibility of connecting the Lake Concord Park boardwalk back to <br />Sunset Parlc using an easement that runs through the south edge of the Home Depot property. <br />Other areas that will be focused on in the near future are Triplet Lake Dr, Sunset Rd., and Oxford <br />Rd. <br />Ms. Sheppard expressed her concern regarding the entrance/exit of Wal-Mart onto Oxford Rd. <br />She thought this would create a traffic problem. Mr. Martin said he would definitely look into <br />this before it is built. <br />Mr. Spence suggested that the PRAB discuss development areas and make suggestions to the <br />City Commission at a future meeting. <br />Manager's Report <br />- The PRAB annual report is almost complete. Mr. Cruz would like to have this <br />presentation coincide with the Parks and Recreation month proclamation. <br />- The City did not receive the Urban and Community Forestry grant. <br />- Mr. Cruz shared two articles about natural parks. <br />- The Country Festival will take place in Lake Concord Park on June 5t1i from 3-9 p.m. <br />Board Member Comments <br />Ms. Sheppard said that she heard that Sanford has a tight budget and the Civic Center, parks, ball <br />fields, and swimming pool maybe in jeopardy. <br />She is very unhappy that the City of Casselberry has cut the Halloween event and the Egg Hunt <br />and is glad that summer camp is still offered. <br />Adjournment <br />Butch Spence made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Phyllis Sheppard seconded the motion. <br />The motion carried unanimously 2-0.
