terminated. <br />(e) Self-inflicted injury. <br />C. Determination of Disability. No Member shall <br />be permitted to retire under the provisions of this section until <br />examined by a duly qualified physician or surgeon, to be selected <br />by the Board for that purpose, and is found to be disabled in the <br />degree and in the manner specified in this section. Any Member <br />retiring under this section may be examined periodically by a <br />duly qualified physician or surgeon or board of physicians and <br />surgeons to be selected by the Board for that purpose, to deter- <br />mine if such disability has ceased to exist. <br />D. Benefit Amount. The benefit payable to a <br />Member who retires with a disability which is not service in- <br />curred shall be an amount equal to one point six percent (1.6$) <br />of his or her Average Final Compensation multiplied by his or her <br />years of Credited Service, but not less than 25~ of Average Final <br />Compensation. In the event of a service incurred disability, the <br />benefit shall be determined as for non-service related disabili- <br />ties, but not less than 42$ of Average Final Compensation. <br />E. Payment of Benefits. The monthly retirement <br />income to which a Member is entitled in the event of his or her <br />disability retirement will be payable on the first day of each <br />month. The first payments will be made on the first day of the <br />month following the date the Board determines such entitlement. <br />However, the monthly retirement income shall be payable as of the <br />date the Board determines such entitlement, and any portion due <br />for a partial month shall be paid together with the first pay- <br />7 <br />
