<br />CASSELBERRY PARKS & RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD <br />Casselberry Recreation Center <br />200 N. Triplet Lake Dr., Casselberry, FL 32707 <br /> <br />A regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board was held Tuesday, August 11, <br />2009 at the Casselberry Recreation Center located at 200 N. Triplet Lake Dr. Butch Spence <br />called the meeting to order at 7:01 P.M. <br /> <br />Board Members Present: <br />Butch Spence, June Hen'on, Bill Hyde, Phyllis Sheppard <br /> <br />Board Members Absent: <br />Michael Mason (appointed on August 10th at Commission meeting) <br /> <br />Staff Present: <br />Luis Cruz (Parks and Facilities Manager), Alicia Kardell (Parks and Recreation OffIce Assistant) <br /> <br />Audience Present: <br />John Casselberry <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes: <br />Butch Spence made a motion to approve the July 14th minutes as written. Bill Hyde seconded the <br />motion. The motion carried unanimously 4-0. <br /> <br />Audience Participation: <br />Mr. John Casselberry, 700 S. Lost Lake Lane, Casselberry, Florida, asked if the City currently <br />has lights in the parks and if their use was encouraged. Mr. Cruz replied that the City parks do <br />have lights and their use is encouraged. <br /> <br />Mr. Casselberry suggested placing water fountains in the parks. Mr. Cruz mentioned that most <br />City parks do have water fountains. An additional water fountain will be placed near the <br />basketball court at Secret Lake Park. <br /> <br />Lake Concord Park Plans and Name Chan2e <br />Mr. Cruz reviewed a copy of the Lake Concord Park plans with the Board. Several areas were <br />pointed out. Mr. Cruz said that the boardwalk railing is in the process of being installed this <br />week. The sidewalks and parking lot will also be formed this week. The retention pond sod was <br />placed yesterday. Mr. Cruz mentioned that Quail Pond Circle will be widened. <br /> <br />Ms. June Herron asked if the magnolias on Quail Pond Circle were new. Mr. Cruz replied that <br />these trees were recently planted. They were part of last year's tree grant. <br /> <br />Mr. Butch Spence asked if benches would be placed in the widened areas of the boardwalk. Mr. <br />Cruz said these fishing pier areas would have benches. <br /> <br />Ms. Herron asked if a fishing license was required to fish in the park. Mr. Cruz said that a <br />fishing license is required by the State of Florida. <br /> <br />1 <br />
