<br />CASSELBERRY PARKS & RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD <br />Casselberry Recreation Center <br />200 N. Triplet Lake Dr., Casselberry, FL 32707 <br /> <br />A regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board was held Tuesday, July 14,2009 at <br />the Casselberry Recreation Center located at 200 N. Triplet Lake Dr. Butch Spence called the <br />meeting to order at 7:05 P.M. <br /> <br />Board Members Present: <br />Butch Spence, June Herron, Bill Hyde, Phyllis Sheppard <br /> <br />Board Members Absent: <br />Liz Torres (resigned) <br /> <br />Staff Present: <br />Luis Cruz (Parks and Facilities Manager), Alicia Kardell (Parks and Recreation Office Assistant) <br /> <br />Audience Present: <br />John Casselberry <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes: <br />Butch Spence made a motion to approve the May lih minutes as written. Phyllis Sheppard <br />seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously 4-0. <br /> <br />Audience Participation: <br />Mr. John Casselberry, 700 S Lost Lake Lane, Casselberry, Florida, asked if the City was seeing <br />fewer children enrolled in summer programs because of the economy. Ms. Kardell replied that <br />the Recreation Division has seen a drop in the number of children enrolled in the summer camps. <br />Mr. Caselberry asked if the pool was open. Ms. Kardell said swim lessons are being held at the <br />pool with some sold out classes. Mr. Casselberry suggested additional playground equipment to <br />provide low cost recreation opportunities for youth. <br /> <br />Mr. Casselberry asked if the plaque at Anniversary Park would be kept in the new park. Mr. <br />Cruz replied that there would still be a plaque, but it wouldn't say "Anniversary Park". Mr. <br />Casselberry suggested that the City keep the original plaque in the park. <br /> <br />Mr. Casselberry brought up the idea of installing motion sensors on the bike trail. He thinks this <br />would be helpful to see how many people are using the trail. Mr. Casselberry added that if the <br />City were to add restrooms to the bike trail, they should be open air/beach type in order to keep <br />homeless from using them as shelter. Mr. Cruz replied that all City restrooms are locked at <br />night. Mr. Cruz added that there was nothing in the bike trail plan to add restrooms, but this may <br />be a possibility in the future if funds become available. <br /> <br />Lake Concord Park Update <br />The City has been reimbursed $200,000 from the state grant. The park should be completed by <br />mid September. Sidewalks should be going in soon. The formation of the amphitheater can be <br />seen. The City is purchasing an ornamental fountain from New Age Pottery, which is going out <br /> <br />1 <br />
