<br />CASSELBERRY PARKS & RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD <br />Casselberry Recreation Center <br />200 N. Triplet Lake Dr., Casselberry, FL 32707 <br /> <br />A regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board was held Tuesday, May 12, 2009 <br />at the Casselberry Recreation Center located at 200 N. Triplet Lake Dr. Butch Spence called the <br />meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. <br /> <br />Board Members Present: <br />Butch Spence, Phyllis Sheppard, Bill Hyde, Liz Torres <br /> <br />Board Members Absent: <br />June Herron <br /> <br />Staff Present: <br />Luis Cruz (Parks and Facilities Manager), Alicia Kardell (Parks and Recreation Office Assistant) <br /> <br />Audience Present: <br />John Casselberry <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes: <br />Phyllis Sheppard made a motion to approve the April 14th minutes as written. Liz Torres <br />seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously 4-0. <br /> <br />Audience Participation: <br />Mr. John Casselberry, 700 S Lost Lake Lane, Casselberry, Florida, suggested putting a bike path <br />next to the side walk in the area near the middle school. He feels this would be a lot cheaper <br />than adding a bike lane to the road way. <br /> <br />Mr. Casselberry asked where Section III of the bike trail would end. Mr. Cruz replied that this <br />section would end on the road. <br /> <br />Mr. Casselberry asked if the addition of the bike trail would increase property value. Mr. Cruz <br />replied that statistics show that property values do increase with bike paths. <br /> <br />Mr. Casselberry also commented on the section of the bike trail near the school. He asked if the <br />school preferred the bike trail in the back. Mr. Cruz said that this is the most used route by <br />children. <br /> <br />Lake Concord/Anniversary Park Update <br />Mr. Cruz shared photos of the boardwalk, cafe picnic area, and playground. The handrails on the <br />boardwalk should be going in the next 2-3 weeks. The retention pond is being worked on this <br />week. <br /> <br />Mr. Cruz has sent in the grant paperwork for reimbursement of $200,000. Everything is moving <br />along. Trees will be planted in June/early July. <br />
