<br />CITY OF CASSELBERRY <br /> <br />WATER FACILITIES WORK PLAN <br /> <br />B. Alternative Water Sources <br /> <br />The Seminole County Water Supply Plan proposes and details twenty two (22) alternative <br />water supply (AWS) projects. Of those projects detailed in the County WSP, only the <br />following are applicable alternative supply projects for the City of Casselberry. <br /> <br />1. Water Conservation/Dernand Reduction <br /> <br />Several but not all of the following methods are in use throughout Seminole County. <br />Using the Policies of the Comprehensive Plan to implement these conservation <br />methods can achieve an overall reduction in the potable water demand. <br /> <br />o High efficiency toilet exchange program <br />o Requiring green building standards - water efficiency <br />o Watering restrictions <br />o Conservation Rate Structure <br />o Meter Replacement Program <br />o Low Volume Plumbing Programs <br />o Audits <br />o Reuse Water Program <br />o XeriscapeTh< Projects/ Codes <br />o Rain Sensor Program <br />o Public Education/Outreach <br />o Mail Outs to High Consumption Water Customers <br />o Water Line Retrofits <br />o Automatic Meter Reading <br /> <br />2. Winter Springs Lake J esup Reclaimed Water Augmentation <br /> <br />This project would involve the treatment, storage, and pumping of surface waters of <br />Lake Jesup for reclaimed water augmentation and system expansion to reduce <br />potable water demands. <br /> <br />Proiect Detail Summar:y: <br /> <br />o Potential Entities Served: Casselberry, Longwood, Wmter Springs, and <br />Seminole County <br />o Water Supply Source: Surface water, Lake Jesup <br />o Potential Project Yield: 2.25 mgd <br />o Total Adjusted Capital Cost: $4.7 Million <br />o Unit Production Cost: $0.58/kgal <br /> <br />3. Surface Water Treatment Plant on St. Johns River at SR 46. <br /> <br />The project will be a multi-jurisdictional potable and non-potable facility with a <br />surface water source. A potential location of the facility is Sanford's "Site 10", which <br />is adjacent to SR 46, the St Johns River and Lake Jessup.
