PRAB Advisory Board Minutes
August 22, 2006
Page 5

Mr. David Leobruno from Villas of Casselberry asked to speak to the Board and it was granted
by Pete Monaco. Mr. Leobruno explained why he felt it was important to consider their project
for the full amount. There have been other projects totally financed by the Villas of Casselberry
residents with no help from the City, not to count the amount of man hours donated by all the
residents.

Mr. David Leobruno also asked questions about the Casselcreek Community, he asked if it was a
gated community, the answer was no. Phyllis Sheppard addressed this issue by adding that this
community was hit during the hurricanes and there still a lot of work to be done. The lighting
they are asking for was for those lights that were destroyed by the hurricane.

Butch Spencer move to approve, seconded by Marianne Kappel. Board unanimously votes 5-0
to approve presentation to the Commission on September 11, 2006.

Director’s Report:

New Board Member
?- Marianne Kappel gave the Board a brief about her and her family.
th
Wirz Park Swimming Pool
? – Open on weekends only until September 30 when it will be
closed for the season.
Summer Camp
? – Partnership with Lyman High School for Summer Camp is going great,
parents have made great remarks to date.
Bicycle Trails
? – Moving forward, working with Seminole County and grant requests.
Civic Center
? – The three (3) companies that are in the short-list are:

Wharton Smith, Inc.
o

The Haskell Company
o

Clancy and Theys Construction Co.
o
Staff Changes
? – Jose Alvino is full time with Parks & Recreation, he transferred from
Public Works.
Anniversary Park Grant
?- Project has been delayed and Parks & Recreation Department
will need to return the grant received 2 years ago and apply again to continue with the
plans of developing Anniversary Park.
