PRAB Advisory Board Minutes <br />June 13, 2006 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br /> <br />Mr. Fortini asked the PRAB if anyone would be interested in serving on the Special Events <br />Advisory Council or knew of anyone from the community that might be interested. After a brief <br />discussion with all the members that were present, it was suggested by Phyllis Sheppard to all <br />members present to think about this opportunity and discuss again during the next meeting. <br /> <br />Phyllis Sheppard made a motion to accept the changes and Liz Torres seconded the motion. The <br />motion carried unanimously 3-0. <br /> <br />Director’s Report: <br /> <br /> Board Member Resignation <br />? – Donna Moskau resigned from the Board, leaving one <br />vacancy on the PRAB to be filled. <br /> Wirz Park Swimming Pool <br />? – open on week-ends; full daily schedule to start Memorial <br />Day <br /> Summer Camp <br />? – Partnership with Lyman High School for Summer Camp is going great, <br />parents have made great remarks to date. <br /> Bicycle Trails <br />? – Moving forward, Seminole County <br /> Parks <br />?– A maintenance crew working at the Dog Park (Plumosa Oaks Park). Progress <br />has been made, working very well. Ordinance should be completed by August and <br />presented to the Commission for the first and second reading. <br /> Senior Center – <br />?Seminole County to fund about 50% for remodeling and taking care of <br />upgrading needs in the Center. Work outside has started. <br /> Civic Center <br />? – Five (5) companies responded to the RFQ: <br /> <br />?Clancy and Theys Construction Co. <br /> <br />?The Collage Companies <br /> <br />?The Haskell Company <br /> <br />?McCree Design Building <br /> <br />?Wharton Smith, Inc. <br /> <br /> <br />ZHA was hired on June 12, to help manage the Civic Center projects. The City <br />o <br />was looking for a representative that will be on our side and make this project <br />successful. <br /> <br /> Staff Changes <br />? – <br /> <br />Linda Buckner, P&R Senior Center P/T Office Assistant is no longer with our <br />o <br />department. Interviews are taking place this week. <br /> <br />Interviews for the P & R Senior Staff Assistant position will start next week (June <br />o <br />th <br />19). <br /> <br />Ken Haven has been with the City for 27 years and has stepped in as Crew <br />o <br />Leader temporally until a replacement is hired. <br /> <br />Maria Simmons gave an update about the Summer Art Classes and the upcoming <br />o <br />exhibits at the Art House and City Hall. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
