<br />CASSELBERRY PARKS & RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD <br />Parks & Recreation Administration Office <br /> <br />125 E. Melody Lane, Casselberry, FL 32707 <br /> <br />A regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation Department was held Tuesday, February 13, 2007. <br />Phyllis Sheppard called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. <br /> <br />Board Members Present <br />: <br />Phyllis Sheppard, Liz Torres, Butch Spence, June Herron (new member) <br /> <br />Board Members Absent <br />: <br />Marianne Karpel <br /> <br />Staff Present <br />: <br />Matt Fortini (Parks & Recreation Director), Maria Simmons (Sr. Staff Assistant) <br /> <br />Audience Present: <br /> <br />John Casselberry <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes <br />: <br />Butch Spence made a motion to accept the January 9, 2007 minutes. Liz Torres seconded the <br />motion. The motion carried unanimously 4-0. <br /> <br />New Member Introduction <br />June Herron introduced herself and gave the board a briefing of her background; Mrs. Herron <br />just retired and has a daughter. <br /> <br />Mr. Fortini proceeded to explain to Mrs. Herron the purpose of the board. How the Board is <br />involved with the Strategic Plan which is coming up in early spring, Neighborhood Grant <br />Applications and other issues that come up within the Parks & Recreation area. <br /> <br />Board Members often participate in special events held by Parks & Recreation department, for <br />example, Halloween, Winter Fest, and concerts. <br /> <br />Selection of New Chairman <br />Phyllis Sheppard nominated Butch Spence, Mr. Spence accepted. The motion carried <br />unanimously 4-0. <br /> <br />New Vice-Chairman will be selected during the March or April meeting, for the benefit of the <br />new member and for all the members to be in attendance. <br /> <br /> <br />Director’s Report: <br />? <br /> Community Civic Center- update <br />The Community Civic Center it is not in the 10 year community plan to be funded by the <br />CRA, there was not a lot of talk about the Community Civic Center in the last CRA <br />meeting. <br />The Community Civic Center still questionable due the financial issues, at this time the <br />CRA is not committed. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
