<br />CASSELBERRY PARKS & RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD <br />Parks & Recreation Administration Office <br />125 E. Melody Lane, Casselberry, FL 32707 <br />A regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board was held Tuesday, August 12, <br />2008 at the Parks and Recreation Conference Room located at 125 E. Melody Lane. Phyllis <br />Sheppard called the meeting to order at 7:08 P.M. <br />Board Members Present <br />: <br />Phyllis Sheppard, June Herron, and Sheryl Mays-Woods <br />Board Member Absent: <br />Butch Spence and Liz Torres <br />Staff Present <br />: <br />Luis Cruz (Parks and Recreation Manager), Alicia Kardell (Parks and Recreation Office <br />Assistant) <br />Audience Present: <br />John Casselberry <br />Approval of Minutes <br />: <br />th <br />June Herron made a motion to accept the June 10 minutes. The motion was seconded by Sheryl <br />Mays-Woods and was carried unanimously 3-0. <br />Audience Participation: <br />Mr. Casselberry asked when the new Little League contract would expire. Mr. Cruz replied that <br />it would expire a year from the date signed. The season runs September 2008- June 2009. Mr. <br />Casselberry also asked Mr. Cruz if he knew the birthrate in the City. He thought this information <br />would be helpful in the planning of future parks and playgrounds. Mr. Cruz replied that although <br />he didn’t know the birthrate, 23% of the population in Casselberry is comprised of children <br />between the ages of 0-20. He also stated that the average age is 39.1 years. <br />Items for Discussion: <br />Little League Contract <br />Mr. Cruz met with Casselberry Little League President, Darrin Sink, and both agreed <br />o <br />upon a 1 yr contract with an option to extend an additional year. <br />The per team fee has increased from $65 to $75. <br />o <br />The Non Resident rate has increased to $20. <br />o <br />The City will be receiving approximately $10,000 per season from Little League <br />o <br />revenues. <br />As part of the new contract, Little League will be lining the fields and assisting with <br />o <br />other field maintenance. <br />The ball field lights are on a timer and turn off at 10pm. <br />o <br />The scoreboard and press box will be maintained by the League. <br />o <br />1 <br /> <br />
