<br />CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of April], 2008 - Special Meeting <br />Page 7 of14 <br /> <br />(7) Make such other reports as the City Commission may require concerning operations; <br /> <br />(8) Keep the City Commission fully advised as to the financial condition and future needs <br />of the city; <br /> <br />(9) Make recommendations to the City Commission concerning the affairs ofthe city and <br />facilitate the work of the City Commission in developing policy; <br /> <br />(10) Provide staff support services for the Mayor and Commissioners; <br /> <br />(II) Assist the Commission to develop long term goals for the city and strategies to <br />implement these goals; <br /> <br />(12) Encourage and provide staff support for regional and intergovernmental cooperation; <br /> <br />(13) Promote partnerships among the Commission, staff, and citizens in developing policy <br />and building a sense of community; and <br /> <br />(14) Perform such other duties as are specified in this charter or may be required by the City <br />Commission. <br /> <br />Consensus: Accept the recommended language for Section 26 as presented. <br /> <br />E. ARTICLE VI. APPOINTED OFFICIALS <br /> <br />Section 27. ApDointment of Officers <br /> <br />The Charter Review Advisory Committee recommended deleting Section 27 in its entirety since Section 26 <br />sets the policy for appointment, suspension, and removal of employees. <br /> <br />Consensus: Accept the recommendation that Section 27 be deleted in its entirety. <br /> <br />Section 29. City Clerk - Appointment: Function: Duties <br /> <br />The Charter Review Advisory Committee recommended the following revised language for Section 29: <br /> <br />The City Manager shall appoint and may remove an officer of the city who shall have the <br />title of City Clerk. This appointment and/or removal shall be confirmed by a majority vote <br />of the City Commission. The City Clerk shall give notice of Commission meetings to its <br />members and the public, keep the journal of all proceedings, and perform such other duties <br />as are assigned by this charter or by the City Manager or by state law. <br /> <br />Consensus: Accept the recommended language for Section 29 as presented. <br />
