CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION Minutes of April], 2008 - Special Meeting Page 7 of14 (7) Make such other reports as the City Commission may require concerning operations; (8) Keep the City Commission fully advised as to the financial condition and future needs of the city; (9) Make recommendations to the City Commission concerning the affairs ofthe city and facilitate the work of the City Commission in developing policy; (10) Provide staff support services for the Mayor and Commissioners; (II) Assist the Commission to develop long term goals for the city and strategies to implement these goals; (12) Encourage and provide staff support for regional and intergovernmental cooperation; (13) Promote partnerships among the Commission, staff, and citizens in developing policy and building a sense of community; and (14) Perform such other duties as are specified in this charter or may be required by the City Commission. Consensus: Accept the recommended language for Section 26 as presented. E. ARTICLE VI. APPOINTED OFFICIALS Section 27. ApDointment of Officers The Charter Review Advisory Committee recommended deleting Section 27 in its entirety since Section 26 sets the policy for appointment, suspension, and removal of employees. Consensus: Accept the recommendation that Section 27 be deleted in its entirety. Section 29. City Clerk - Appointment: Function: Duties The Charter Review Advisory Committee recommended the following revised language for Section 29: The City Manager shall appoint and may remove an officer of the city who shall have the title of City Clerk. This appointment and/or removal shall be confirmed by a majority vote of the City Commission. The City Clerk shall give notice of Commission meetings to its members and the public, keep the journal of all proceedings, and perform such other duties as are assigned by this charter or by the City Manager or by state law. Consensus: Accept the recommended language for Section 29 as presented.
