Phyllis Sheppard asked if there were any additions or corrections needed. Sheryl Mays- Woods
added that it may be nice to include a certificate with the letter. All agreed this would be a good
idea.

The board discussed putting a sign in the yard of the letter recipient. Mr. Cruz added that this
may be more labor intensive, and that a letter and certificate would be sufficient.

With the approval of the Board, Mr. Cruz said that he'd forward the draft letter onto Mr. Fortini
and the City Manager.

Phyllis Sheppard added that it would be nice if the recipient could be recognized at a City
Commission meeting. Mr. Cruz said that he'd check into this possibility.

June Herron suggested that a "tip of the month" be added to the utility bills letting customers
know when to do certain yard maintenance and also water conservation tips.

Blue Way System

The Blue Way System was brought up at last night's Commission meeting. The Blue Way is a
concept to connect the lakes by passage ways in the City. Features such as a nature trail,
boardwalks and pavilions may be added.

A grant in the amount of $46,200 was received from Seminole County for improvement of the
canal on N. Lake Triplet. Geo tubes will be added to help restore the shore line and prevent
eroSIOn.

A small kayak and canoe concession will be added. The boy scouts will assist with the building
of canoe/kayak racks.

June Herron asked about the "bird island" that was mentioned at the Commission meeting. Mr.
Cruz said this is an island in Middle Lake Triplet. When the invasive species were removed, the
birds left the island.

Phyllis Sheppard asked about the location of N. Lake Triplet. Mr. Cruz said this is to the right of
the Sr. Center. The lake across the street is Middle Lake Triplet.

Mr. Cruz brought in a map of the lakes and pointed out where the canal restoration and
canoe/kayak rental will take place.

June Herron commented about the addition of a kayak/canoe concession area. She feels that this
will probably make a lot of people happy, especially those who were upset with the closing of
the boat ramps.

Mr. Cruz asked Ms. Sheppard if she's ever had any problems with people coming onto her
property. She replied that she hasn't had any, but people using the lakes need to understand that
it is private property.

Sheryl Mays-Woods commented on the canoe/kayak issue. She thinks it is a wonderful idea but
believes that signs will need to be posted with the rules. Mr. Cruz replied that there will be signs

2
