<br />a A copy of the 2004-2007 Strategic Plan was handed out to all board members. <br />Mr. Cruz asked the board to re-familiarize themselves with the plan. A strategic <br />planning session will be scheduled sometime in May and will include a facilitator. <br />a The board will need to take a good look at the recreation programs offered and <br />decide which ones should be continued, With budget cuts, Parks and Recreation <br />will be offering less in the upcoming year(s). <br />oMs, Sheppard asked if there was a way to get sponsors to help fund the recreation <br />programs, Mr. Cruz said partnering with the community is going to be very <br />important in the future, especially as program funding is cut. Ms. Sheppard also <br />brought up the idea of charging a nominal fee at events. <br /> <br />Director's Report: <br />. Upcoming Events- <br />a Movie in the Parle: Bad News Bears- The final movie of this series will be shown on <br />March 14th at 7;30 pm. <br />o Egg Hunt- Casselberry's annual Egg Hunt will take place Saturday, March IS <br />beginning promptly at 9 am. Following the Egg Hunt, there will be plenty of extra <br />activities for the kids to enjoy, <br />a International Folk: Festival - The Rotary Club of Casselberry is hosting this event on <br />April 5th from 3-9 pm at the City Hall Complex. <br />a Arbor Day Celebration- This event will be held on April 26th in Secret Lake Park, <br />Casselberry was designated Tree City USA by the National Arbor Foundation, <br />a Blast}i'om the Past! 50's - 60's Concert and Car Show- May loth, The event will <br />include music by the Rhythmatics, a classic car show, vendors and dance contests. All <br />proceeds raised fTom the car show registration fees will support Casselberry's art and <br />cultural programs. <br />. Staff Report- <br />a Two program coordinators are resigning- Erin Myers and Kathy Macchia. Donald <br />Dowd will take over Kathy's position at the Sr. Center. <br />. Bike Trail- <br />a The Bike Trail 11laster plan is nearing the final stages of development. A map was <br />shown to board members of the proposed bike trail which is divided into 3 phases. <br />All but the last section has been funded. A public hearing will take place in April. <br />· Relocation of Parks and Recreation staff- <br />a The target date for the demolition of the Parks and Recreation Admin. Building is <br />June ]st, Staff may be moving into the old Fire Station bays, but this area will need <br />renovations before the move. Mr. Cruz would like to keep all the Parks staff together <br />in one location if possible. <br /> <br />Board Member Reports: <br />Mr. Spence has organized the Seminole Walking/Biking Group which meets on Sundays from 2- <br />4 pm. The group walks or bikes on different trails each week. Anyone interested in participating <br />can call or email Mr.Spence.Mr. Cruz thought this was a great idea which improves the quality <br />ofliving. <br /> <br /> <br />2 <br />
