Melody Lane, Casselberry, FL 32707 <br /> <br />A regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board was held Tuesday, March I] 111, <br />2008 at the Parks and Recreation Conference Room located at 125 E, Melody Lane. Butch <br />Spence called the meeting to order at 7:02 P,M. <br /> <br />Board Members Present: <br />Butch Spence, Phyllis Sheppard, Liz Torres and June Herron <br /> <br />Board Member Absent: <br />Sheryl Mays-Woods <br /> <br />Staff Present: <br />Luis Cruz (Parks and Recreation Manager), Alicia Kardell (Parks and Recreation Office <br />Assistant), Donald Dowd (Recreation Aide) <br /> <br />Audience Present: <br />John Casselberry <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes: <br />Mr. Spence made a motion to accept the February 1 ih minutes. Phyllis Sheppard brought to <br />attention a mistake in her last name in the minutes- she was referred to as Phyllis Wallace, With <br />this correction, she seconded the motion, The motion carried unanimously 4-0, <br /> <br />Audience Participation: <br />Mr. Casselberry brought up the issue of jet ski use on Lake Concord. He believes that if high <br />speed traffic is kept to the west side of the fountain, there would be an oval track that could be <br />used for jet skis, Mr. Casselberry suggested the name "Anniversary Playground" for the <br />renaming of Anniversary Park. On the subject of bike trails, Mr. Casselberry believes that they <br />are drawing people into dangerous, isolated areas. He believes the trails should be the shortest <br />distance between two logical destination points, <br /> <br />Items for Discussion: <br />· Proposal to change Anniversary Park name <br />o The City would like to propose a name change for Anniversary Park which would <br />include the name "Lake Concord". Mr. Cruz asked the board members to think <br />about this idea and bring some suggestions to the next meeting, <br />a Plans for Anniversary Park are still not ready. CDM, the engineering firm, is <br />having some technical issues including storm water runoff and the boardwalk <br />alignment. Once plans are at 60%, they will be shared with the board, <br />oMs, Sheppard asked if a parking garage was still in the plans for the area. Mr. <br />Cruz said this option was still on the table. Ms. Sheppard also commented on the <br />plans to build a Civic Center. Mr. Cruz said the Commissioners still want to build <br />this, but times are difficult right now, <br />... ."1 sl. stages of strategicplanningH <br />
