Board of Adjustment
March 27, 2008

Page 6

Sky compliant fixtures. Mr. Letizia said the Walgreens and the 950 Office Building located on Winter Park Drive have 32'

pole mounting heights which would be consistent with the proposed light poles for the shopping center.

Mr. Letizia said the shopping center is at a disadvantage because the property is angled to the road. He said if the

parking lot is filled with light poles it would appear to be a sea of light poles when traveling along State Road 436. Mr.

Letizia said the desired goal would be to place light poles in landscape islands. He said the current number of parking

spaces for the shopping center is consistent with the needs of the property; however, the installation of landscape islands

would result in the loss of several parking spaces. Mr. Letizia said he is currently negotiating additional landscaping to the

site.

Ms. Virginia Fischer, property manager, Southern Management and Development, 8515-101 Gunn Highway,

Odessa, Florida came forward. Ms. Fischerfeltthe shopping center would be fully leased soon. She said the shopping

center needs to maintain the current number of parking spaces to accommodate the tenants' needs.

In response to the Board's question, Mr. Tyree made a correction to the lighting plan stating that both lighting plans

should have 32' light poles. He said the only difference between the two plans is one additional light on the three poles

closest to the building. He said the additional light would provide an even spread of light.

A general discussion ensued regarding possible options for the location ofthe light poles and additional landscape

materials. The two lighting plan options were discussed. Mr. Senzee explained the difference between the two plans is

very minimal.

Mr. Bowman asked if there was anyone in the audience who wished to speak in favor of the request. No one

came forward.

Mr. Bowman asked if there was anyone in the audience who wished to speak in opposition to the request. Mr.

John Casselberry, 700 South Lost Lake Lane, Casselberry, Florida came forward. Mr. Casselberry said he is not

speaking in favor or against the variance request. Mr. Casselberry was concerned that the City has received an

incomplete drawing. Mr. Casselberry suggested adding language to the approval that each parking space should have

the minimum amount of light required. Mr. Bowman said that the City and the applicant have taken that information into
