Community Redevelopment Agency February 22, 2008 Page 4 of 8 Mr. John Casselberry, 700 South Lost Lake Lane, Casselberry, Florida came forward. Mr. Casselberry expressed a concern with black poles and felt the poles should be white for safety reasons. A brief discussion ensued regarding the number and location of the wayfinding signs. The motion passed unanimously by voice vote. Seventh Item of Business: Casselberry Sign Illumination - US 17/92 and SR 436 Mr. Paradise reviewed staffs memo dated February 7, 2008 (a copy is on file in the Community Development Department). Mr. Daigle made a motion to approve the funding for the installation of the lighting of the Casselberry sign at the northwest corner of US Highway 17/92 and State Road 436. Mr. McGregor seconded the motion. A brief discussion ensued regarding the City receiving competitive bids for the project and the CRA funding the project. The motion passed unanimously by voice vote. Ei~hth Item of Business: Economic Development Position Mr. Paradise reviewed staffs memo dated February 20, 2008 (a copy is on file in the Community Development Department). Mr. Daigle made a motion to approve the CRA sharing the cost of the Economic Development Director position. Mr. McGregor seconded the motion. In response to the Board's question, Mr. Paradise said that the Economic Development Director would assist with the work load in the Community Development Department; however, additional responsibilities are included in the position. He said that the Economic Development Director would work with businesses and developers. In response to the Board's question regarding the CRA's input in the hiring of the Economic Development Director, Ms. Lipscomb said the CRA is not authorized to hire city staff. Ms. Lipscomb said the City Manager is responsible for the hiring and firing of staff.
