Mr. Casselberry <br /> <br />expressed a concern with black poles and felt the poles should be white for safety reasons. <br /> <br />A brief discussion ensued regarding the number and location of the wayfinding signs. The motion passed <br /> <br />unanimously by voice vote. <br /> <br />Seventh Item of Business: Casselberry Sign Illumination - US 17/92 and SR 436 <br /> <br />Mr. Paradise reviewed staffs memo dated February 7, 2008 (a copy is on file in the Community <br /> <br />Development Department). <br /> <br />Mr. Daigle made a motion to approve the funding for the installation of the lighting of the Casselberry sign at <br /> <br />the northwest corner of US Highway 17/92 and State Road 436. Mr. McGregor seconded the motion. <br /> <br />A brief discussion ensued regarding the City receiving competitive bids for the project and the CRA funding <br /> <br />the project. <br /> <br />The motion passed unanimously by voice vote. <br /> <br />Ei~hth Item of Business: Economic Development Position <br /> <br />Mr. Paradise reviewed staffs memo dated February 20, 2008 (a copy is on file in the Community <br /> <br />Development Department). <br /> <br />Mr. Daigle made a motion to approve the CRA sharing the cost of the Economic Development Director <br /> <br />position. Mr. McGregor seconded the motion. <br /> <br />In response to the Board's question, Mr. Paradise said that the Economic Development Director would <br /> <br />assist with the work load in the Community Development Department; however, additional responsibilities are <br /> <br />included in the position. He said that the Economic Development Director would work with businesses and <br /> <br />developers. <br /> <br />In response to the Board's question regarding the CRA's input in the hiring of the Economic Development <br /> <br />Director, Ms. Lipscomb said the CRA is not authorized to hire city staff. Ms. Lipscomb said the City Manager is <br /> <br />responsible for the hiring and firing of staff. <br />
