Charter and Special Needs Schools <br /> <br />Charter schools in Seminole County have been established with various learning objectives <br />and instructional delivery methods under individual charters approved by the School Board <br />in accordance with School Board policy 3.90. Charter schools are funded by the State and <br />are monitored by both the School Board and State for compliance with the charter and <br />student achievement goals. There are currendy three charter schools in Seminole County. <br />Rays of Hope and United Cerebral Palsy charter schools accept students throughout <br />Seminole County with specific learning and resource needs. Choices in Learning accepts <br />applicants (subject to established enrollment limits) throughout Seminole County. Special <br />Needs Centers are public schools that provide exceptional student education to individuals <br />with specific learning needs. Charter schools and special centers are not included in the level <br />of service on concurrency review calculations for future residential development. <br /> <br />XII-3 <br />
