City Commission Meeting
July23, 2007
Page 9

. Placing the boat ramps on special patrol during the months of April through September to
ensure a more vigilant presence. The presence of police officers at the ramps will aid in the
adherence to City Codes and laws. This will also serve as a deterrent to those users that
continually choose to disobey the rules.
· Continuing to close and lock the gate to the boat ramps every night at sunset and reopening
them again in the morning. This requires the support of the Police Department.
· Hiring of a part-time Park employee to provide enforcement during the weekend hours at the
two public ramps. This employee will work a limited number of hours on Saturdays and
Sundays to ensure users are not trespassing on private property. Violating regulations against
alcohol, and operating their vessels appropriately. The employee can call the Police
Department for support if necessary.
· Opening up the canal between Middle Lake Triplet and Lost Lake to encourage public use of
both lakes and improve drainage during storm events.
. Continue to provide and expand access to the lakes as identified in the adopted
comprehensive plan. This access may be in the form of boat launch areas or fishing piers or
boardwalks. The development of boat ramps on larger lakes should remain a priority.

Audience Input:

I) Laura and Michael Hatten, 302 Lake Triplet Drive, Casselberry, Florida, residents living
next to ramp on Middle Lake Triplet, addressed the problems and concerns they are
experiencing regarding the use of the lake, particularly the use of motorized boats and jet
skis.

2) John Casselberry, 700 South Lost Lake Lane, Casselberry, Florida, suggested the City clear
its lakes of all hydrilla and close ramps at night,

3) Phyllis Sheppard, 580 South Triplet Lake Drive, Casselberry, Florida, stated that public
access to South Triplet was not a solution to the jet ski issues.

Consensus of Commission was to instruct the staff to bring back a feasible plan to include tall the
ramifications involved with eliminating public access to the lakes for all motorized vehicles to the
general public.

14.
