<br />Exterior IiQhtinQ - Temporary or permanent liqhtinq that is installed, located or used in such a rnanner <br />to cause liqht rays to shine outside. Fixtures that are installed indoors that are intended to liqht somethinq <br />outside or act to draw attention are considered exterior liqhtinq for purposes of this Ordinance. <br />Eyebrow LiQhtinQ - Fixtures that downliqht the entire or partial perimeter of canopies and/or buildinqs. <br />This term does not include wall packs. <br />Fixture - The assembly that holds the lamp in a liqhtinq system. It includes the elements desiqned to <br />qive liqht output control. such as a reflector (mirror) or refractor (lens), the ballast. housinq, and the attachment <br />parts. <br /> <br />Foot-candle - Illuminance produced on a surface one foot from a uniform point source of one candela. <br />Measured by a calibrated liqht meter. <br />Full Cut-Off Fixtures - Fixtures, as installed, <br />that are desiqned or shielded in such a manner that all <br />liqht rays emitted by the fixture, either directly from the <br />lamps or indirectly from the fixture, are proiected below <br />a horizontal plane runninq throuqh the lowest point on <br />the fixture where liqht is emitted (See Fiqure 1 ). <br />Glare - Intense liqht that results in discomfort <br />and/or a reduction of visual performance and visibility. <br />Illuminance - Density of luminous flux <br />incident on a surface. To be distinquished from the whole <br />assembly (See Luminaire). <br />LiQht Loss Factor (LLFj- A percentaqe amount applied to the actual anticipated foot-candle levels <br />of a fixture, which reduces the calculated liqht level output on the photometric plan to account for lower liqht <br />level output from a fixture due to the aqe of the bulb, and dirt that occurs over time. <br />LiQht Pollution. Any adverse effect of man made liqht includinq, but not limited to, liqht trespass, <br />upliqhtinq, the uncomfortable distraction to the eye, niqht blindness, or any manmade liqht that diminishes the <br />ability to view the niqht sky. <br /> <br />Page 5 of 14 <br />Ordinance 02-1046 <br />
