Mayor Pronovost noted school winners from Sterling Park <br />Elementary School, Eastbrook Elementary School and South Seminole Middle School will be presented their <br />awards at the May 10, 2004 City Commission meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Pronovost declared a recess at 7:21 p.m. The meeting was reconvened at 7:35 p.m. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> <br />I. SECOND READING OF ORDINANCE 04- ! 122 - AMENDING CHAPTER 14 OF <br /> <br />THE CITY CODE - DEFINING AND PROHIBITING SLOT MACH1NES OR <br /> <br />DEVICES <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Clark moved to read Ordinance 04-1122 <br />by title only. Motion was seconded by Commissioner <br />Hart. Motion carried unanimously by voice vote. <br /> <br />The City Clerk read Ordinance 04-1122 by title as follows: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AMENDING <br />CHAPTER 14, AMUSEMENTS, ARTICLE I, IN GENERAL TO ADD THE FOLLOWING <br />SECTIONS: SLOT MACHINES OR DEVICES; DEFINING AND PROHIBITING SLOT <br />MACHINES OR DEVICES IN THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY; PROVIDING FOR <br />SEVERABIL1TY, CODIFICATION, CONFLICTS AND EFFECTIVE DATE." <br /> <br />Legal Advertisement: The Notice of Public Hearing relative to Ordinance 04- 1122 was published in the <br />Orlando Sentinel on April 15, 2004. <br /> <br />Staff Presentation: Mrs. Reischmann stated Ordinance 04-1122 addresses slot machines or devices to <br />reiterate the statutory ban on slot machines and to further define them to close up any loopholes created by <br />the statutory "Chuck E. Cheese" exemption. Mrs. Reischmann stated Ordinance 04-1122 was slightly revised <br />after the first reading to reference language utilized in Seminole County's recently approved slot machine <br />ordinance which gave examples of casino-type slot machines, Staff reconunended approval o f Ordinance <br />04-1122 on second reading. Ordinance 04-1122 was passed on first reading on February 9, 2004. <br /> <br />Public Hearing: Mayor Pronovost asked if theru was anyone in the aucF~ence that wished to address <br />Ordinance 04-1122. No one came forward. Mayor Pronovost closed the public hearing. <br /> <br /> <br />
