RESOLUTION 25-3490 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE <br />EXECUTION OF A LOCALLY FUNDED AGREEMENT WITH THE <br />STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION IN <br />ORDER TO PROVIDE FOR DESIGN SERVICES FOR SAFETY <br />IMPROVEMENTS TO STATE ROAD 436; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, <br />SEVERABILITY, AND EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Casselberry is committed to making its community safer, more <br />comfortable, and more connected for people of all ages and abilities to walk and bike; and <br />WHEREAS, the City has set a Vision Zero Goal to achieve zero fatalities and severe <br />injuries on all City -owned streets by 2030 and all streets and roads in the City by 2040; and <br />WHEREAS, in 2021 the City and Seminole County entered into an Interlocal Agreement <br />for SR 436 improvements; and <br />WHEREAS, the City's Vision Zero Action Plan identified SR 436 as part of its High Injury <br />Network with the highest number of fatalities and serious injuries of any road or street in the City; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has programmed a paving <br />only project to repave SR 436 from Lake Howell Road to the southern County line; and <br />WHEREAS, consistent with its adopted Vision Zero Action Plan, the City wishes to pursue <br />safety improvements to the aforesaid segment of SR 436 concurrent with FDOT's paving project; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, in cooperation with the City, FDOT has scoped design services for safety <br />improvements and has negotiated a cost with its consultant; and <br />WHEREAS, a Locally Funded Agreement with FDOT is necessary in order for the City to <br />provide funding for design services using local funds; and <br />WHEREAS, City staff has reviewed the aforementioned Agreement and finds it acceptable <br />to meet the needs of the City. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION I. The City Commission of the City of Casselberry hereby approves the Locally <br />Funded Agreement with the State of Florida Department of Transportation to provide for design <br />services for safety improvements to SR 436 and authorizes the Mayor to execute said document, <br />attached herewith, on behalf of the City. <br />SECTION II. Conflicts. All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict with any of the <br />provisions of this Resolution are hereby repealed. <br />
