Seminole County <br />Mitigation 20/20T= Task Force <br />Local Hazard Mitigation Plan <br /> <br /> iN-~TRODUCTION AND EXPLANATiO;., <br /> Jurisdiction Hazard Mitgation Plan- <br /> for <br /> City of Casselberry <br /> This document presents the information and analysis conducted by the representatives <br /> of the agencies and organizations serving this specific jurisdiction in the hazard <br /> mitigation planning process undertaken by the Mitigation 20/20 Task Force. These <br /> representatives worked jointly with other jurisdictions, agencies and <br /> participating in Task Force to develop a COmprehensive, Coordinated°rganizati°ns <br /> intended to eliminate or reduce the vulnerabilit es of this COmmunity to future <br /> mitigation plan <br /> disasters. The information conta ned Jr) this document presents the results of this <br /> effort to identify the specific hazards threatening this jurisdiction, to characterize the <br /> vulnerability to those hazards, and to propose a number of projects and/or programs to <br /> address those vulnerabjlities. <br /> <br /> The anaJyses conducted by the planners for this jurisdiction Were based on cu <br /> available information and data re ardi <br /> facilities and sys ern~ +~-- ,- .g ng the characteri ',-~ ..~ ,, ...... rrently <br /> · _ t ..-, .,,~ []azaras that thr~o+~.,-. :. This information includes, where available, <br /> ...... ,, J[s Peopre and property and the ' <br /> US census data, local tax records, local and national geographic information system <br /> data, Flood InSurance Rate Maps, hazard specific analyses, and other environmental <br /> ~nd demographic facts. HOwever, very Often authoritative or current information was <br /> Simply not available for the planning effort. In these cases, the experience, knowledge <br /> and judgment of local off/c/als representing the Participating organizations were used <br /> the planning, including assumptions and apProximations that Were believed to be <br /> reasonable. In addition straight-forward, simplified technica analyses were in <br /> such tasks est mating property values, calculat n9 benefit to cost ratios, and used for <br /> determining the Size of the populations affected, etc. The reliance on the judgment of <br /> knOWledgeable officials and simplified analyses is Considered acceptable at this stage <br /> to allow the Participating organizations to complete the tasks needed to develop the <br /> local mitigation plan. Otherwise, known issues and concerns related to mitigation <br /> planning could simply not be addressed because current data is not available or <br /> Complex analyses could not be COmpleted. As the planning continues in future years, <br /> or at the time when a proposed mitigation initiative is intended to be funded and/or <br /> implemented, the participating <br /> analyses may be required, organizations recognize that additional information and <br /> <br /> The government agencies and key organizations of this jurisdiction are Committed to <br /> implementation of the mitigation-related projects and/or programs <br /> section when and if the resources to do so become available. The representatives of <br /> described in this <br />this jurisdiction are also <br />has resulted in this document, and to the Ongoing COoperation with agencies and <br /> committed to continuing the mitigation planning process that <br />Organizations from adjacent jurisdictions to make the Community resistant to the <br />damages and hardships that could otherwise be the result of future disasters. <br /> <br /> <br />
