RESOLUTION 04-1488 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, TO APPROVE AND <br />ENDORSE A FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA) COMPLIANT <br />LOCAL MITIGATION PLAN DEVELOPED BY THE SEMINOLE COUNTY MITIGATION 20/20 <br />TASK FORCE WITH CITY OF CASSELBERRY STAFF PARTICIPATING AS MEMBERS; <br />PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, areas of the City of Casselberry are vulnerable to the human and economic costs of natural, <br />technological and societal disasters; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Casselberry City Commission realizes the importance of reducing or eliminating <br />those vulnerabilities for the overall good and welfare of the City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Casselberry has been an active participant in the Seminole County Mitigation <br />20/20 Task Force, which has established a comprehensive, coordinated planning process involving Seminole <br />County and its municipalities, as well as other public and private sector organizations, to eliminate or decrease <br />these vulnerabilities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, City of Casselberry representatives and staff have identified, justified and prioritized a <br />number of proposed projects and programs needed to mitigate the vulnerabilities of incorporated areas of the City <br />of Casselberry to the impacts of future disasters; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, City of Casselberry representatives and staff have reviewed the information provided by or <br />generated on behalf of other participating jurisdictions and organizations, including the projects and programs they <br />have proposed for incorporation into the Seminole County Mitigation 20/20 Task Fome Local Hazard Mitigation <br />Plan; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, these proposed projects and programs have been incorporated into the current edition of the <br />Seminole County Mitigation 20/20 Task Force Local Hazard Mitigation Plan that has been prepared and issued for <br />consideration and implementation by the cities and jurisdictions within Seminole County. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION I. The City Commission of the City of Casseiberry hereby accepts and endorses the mitigation <br />goals and objectives established by the Seminole County Mitigation 20/20 Task Force for the countywide plan, <br />and, in particular, that section entitled "Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan for the City of Casselberry" (attached <br />as Exhibit A), and the anticipated schedule for the next updating of the Plan. <br /> <br /> SECTION II. The City Commission finds that the proposed mitigation projects and programs included in <br />the plan by other jurisdictions and organizations are acceptable, that they will not adversely affect the City or its <br />neighborhoods, and that they do not conflict with or duplicate the mitigation proposals made by the City itself. <br /> <br /> SECTION III. City of Casselberry and Seminole County personnel are requested and instructed to pursue <br />available funding and grant opportunities for implementation of the proposals designated within the Plan. <br /> <br /> SECTION IV. The agencies and organizations within the City of Casselberry and Seminole County will, <br />upon receipt of such grants, funding or other necessary resources, seek to implement the proposals contained <br />within the City of Casselberry's individual section of the local mitigation plan. <br /> <br /> SECTION V. The City of Casselberry will continue to participate in the updating and expansion of the <br />Seminole County Mitigation 20/20 Task Force Local Hazard Mitigation Plan. <br /> <br /> <br />
