<br />Section 3. The Florida Building Code provides opportunities for municipalities to <br />adapt portions of the code to meet the community's standards. Those additions and/or <br />revisions are preceded with the initials FBC (Florida Building Code). The following are <br />authorized additions to the Florida Building Code for the City of Casselberry and shall be <br />included in Article IV of the Unified Land Development Regulations and shall read as <br />follows: <br /> <br />FBC SECTION 101 <br />GENERAL <br /> <br />FBC 101.4.13 Words not defined. <br /> <br />FBC 101.4.13.1 Words not defined herein shall have the meaning stated in the <br />Florida Statutes or other nationally recognized codes, or other documents, manuals <br />or standards adopted elsewhere in this Code. Words not defined in those <br />documents shall have the meaning stated in the Webster's Ninth New Collegiate <br />Dictionary, as revised. <br /> <br />FBC 101.4.13.2 In case of a conflict in definitions or codes, the appropriate <br />definition (or code) to be applied shall be the one applicable to the trade in question. <br />In case of a conflict between different parts of this article; conflicts within the same <br />code; or conflicts between codes; the more stringent requirements shall be <br />applicable. <br /> <br />FBC SECTION 102 <br />BUILDING DIVISION <br /> <br />FBC 102.1 Establishment. There is hereby established a division within the Community <br />Development Department to be called the Building Division and the person in charge shall <br />be known as the Building Official. <br /> <br />FBC 102.2 Employee qualifications. <br /> <br />FBC 102.2.1 Building Official Qualifications. The Building Official shall be <br />licensed as a Building Code Administrator by the State of Florida. The Building <br />Official shall be appointed by the City Manager or as provided in Chapter 62 of the <br />Casselberry Code of Ordinances. The Building Official shall not be removed from <br />office except as provided in Chapter 62 of the Code of Ordinances. <br /> <br />FBC 102.2.3 Employee Qualifications. The Building Official, with the approval of <br />the appointing authority and the Department Director, may hire such number of <br />officers, Inspectors, Plans Examiners, assistants and other employees as shall be <br />authorized from time to time. A person shall not be hired as Inspector or Plans <br />Examiner unless that person meets the qualifications for licensure as an Inspector <br />or Plans Examiner, in the appropriate trade as established by the State of Florida. <br /> <br />Ordinance No. 03-1092 <br />Page 7 of 18 <br />
