REVIEW OF CONSULTANT'S RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING <br />SELECTION OF THE CITY MANAGER AND SELECTION OF CANDIDATES <br />FOR FINAL INTERVIEWS <br /> <br />Consultant Presentation: Colin Baenziger, Colin Baenziger & Associates, stated approximately thirty (30) <br />applications were received for the City Manager position. Nine (9) candidates and their detailed background <br />information was submitted to the City Commission in advance of the meeting and recommended for <br />consideration. Mr. Baenziger stated he had met individually with each City Commission Member earlier in <br />the day to discuss each candidate's strengths and weaknesses and to answer any questions. Mr. Baenziger <br />recommended the City Commission pick four (4) or five (5) finalists and one (1) alternate to be interviewed <br />in September. Mr. Baenziger suggested utilizing a paper ballot to determine the finalists and in the event <br />there is not general agreement, there may have to be further discussion. <br /> <br />Paper ballots were distributed to the City Commission and Mr. Baenziger requested that each member vote <br />for five (5) candidates. Yandow tI' tI' tI' tI' 4 <br /> <br />Commission Discussion: After consideration ofthe fact that two candidates received five (5) votes and two <br />candidates received four (4) votes, Commission consensus was to select those candidates (Robert Kellogg, <br />Michael L. Stampfler, Mark A. Winson, and Robert G. Yandow) as finalists to be interviewed in September. <br />Since the remaining candidates did not receive a majority of votes from the City Commission, discussion <br />ensued regarding whether or not to pursue interviewing five (5) candidates or to just conduct interviews with <br />the four (4) candidates that initially received a majority vote. Mr. Baenziger reiterated his recommendation <br />that the City Commission select at least one alternate. It was noted that Mr. Stampfler and Ms. Lipscomb <br />were finalists for the City of Sanford city manager position. Further discussion ensued regarding the <br />selection of alternates. Commission consensus was to vote again on the two (2) candidates who received two <br />
