CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION
Minutes of August 25, 2005 - Special Meeting
Page 2 of3

5. NEW BUSINESS

A. REVIEW OF CONSULTANT'S RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING
SELECTION OF THE CITY MANAGER AND SELECTION OF CANDIDATES
FOR FINAL INTERVIEWS

Consultant Presentation: Colin Baenziger, Colin Baenziger & Associates, stated approximately thirty (30)
applications were received for the City Manager position. Nine (9) candidates and their detailed background
information was submitted to the City Commission in advance of the meeting and recommended for
consideration. Mr. Baenziger stated he had met individually with each City Commission Member earlier in
the day to discuss each candidate's strengths and weaknesses and to answer any questions. Mr. Baenziger
recommended the City Commission pick four (4) or five (5) finalists and one (1) alternate to be interviewed
in September. Mr. Baenziger suggested utilizing a paper ballot to determine the finalists and in the event
there is not general agreement, there may have to be further discussion.

Paper ballots were distributed to the City Commission and Mr. Baenziger requested that each member vote
for five (5) candidates. Stampfler, Mark A. Winson, and Robert G. Yandow) as finalists to be interviewed in September.
Since the remaining candidates did not receive a majority of votes from the City Commission, discussion
ensued regarding whether or not to pursue interviewing five (5) candidates or to just conduct interviews with
the four (4) candidates that initially received a majority vote. Mr. Baenziger reiterated his recommendation
that the City Commission select at least one alternate. It was noted that Mr. Stampfler and Ms. Lipscomb
were finalists for the City of Sanford city manager position. Further discussion ensued regarding the
selection of alternates. Commission consensus was to vote again on the two (2) candidates who received two
