<br />City Commission Meeting <br />June 13, 2005 <br />Page 16 <br /> <br />I. Purchase of the Moretti Prooertv - Concord Ventures. LLC <br /> <br />Mr. Segreto recommended the Commission execute contract for property from Richard Moretti, Concord <br />Ventures, LLC, on U.S. Highway 17-92 and Concord as negotiated by the City Attorney. The purchase price <br />for property in the amount of $2.25 million. The City Attorney stated that if the transaction is not <br />consummated at this juncture, the contract will be null in void and the property would revert back to the <br />Adult Entertainment use after 90 days. <br /> <br />Mr. Moretti was present and spoke to the City Commission regarding the favorable purchase of his property. <br /> <br />Commission Discussion: <br /> <br />Commissioner Doerner supported the purchase of the property to insure economic redevelopment in the CRA <br />District and eliminate the possibility of Adult Entertainment use in the area. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hufford spoke in support of the purchase as a very positive opportunity for economic <br />redevelopment, a good sound business decision that would control adult entertainment uses and opposition <br />to this move forward with this purchase supported adult entertainment. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hart spoke in favor of the purchase and was a great opportunity for the City of Casselberry <br />to curb the adult entertainment use of the property. <br /> <br />Commissioner Cook spoke in opposition to the purchase and spending of $2.25 million dollars without an <br />appraisal. She stated she was against adult entertainment but could not support spending tax dollars for the <br />purchase. <br /> <br />Mayor Goff spoke in opposition to spending $2.25 million dollars because of the budget constraints and the <br />unanswered questions with Unicorp regarding the City Center property and the timing was not right at this <br />juncture. <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Moved by Commissioner Susan Doerner to approve the purchase of the <br />Moretti Property on U.S. Highway 17-92 and Concord subject to the City <br />Attorney approval. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Colleen <br />Hufford and carried on a 3 - 2 vote. (Commissioner Cook and Mayor Goff <br />dissenting). <br /> <br />XI, Commission Reoorts/Reauests <br /> <br />Commissioner Doerner requested the Commission reconsider moving the Citizens Comments to the <br />beginning of the Agenda. Consensus of Commission was to move Citizens Comments to the beginning of <br />the Agenda for Non Agenda Items. <br /> <br />Commissioner Cook stated that she had received complaints regarding recycling pick ups after holidays. Mr. <br />Segreto stated that he would be meeting with the Garbage Contractor regarding the service. <br />
