<br />CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of January 24, 2005 - Regular Meeting <br />Page 8 oft 7 <br /> <br />INCREASE Acct. #001-0000-331.20.03 <br />(Federal Grant - FEMA Fire Truck 2004) <br />DECREASE Acct. #001-0190-519.58 <br />(Contingency Reserve) <br /> <br />$499,500.00 <br /> <br />$ 21,503.00 <br /> <br />Staff Presentation: Resolution05-l552 was continued from the January 10,2005 City Commission meeting. <br />Chief Harkins stated Resolution 05-1552 provides for purchase of a tower/platform fire truck from Sutphen <br />in the amount of $576,502.88. This is a cooperative purchase using the Fort Myers Beach Fire Control <br />District contract. Funding for the fire tuck is as follows: <br /> <br />FEMA Federal Grant - <br />2004/2005 Budget - <br />Budget Amendment #05-15 - <br /> <br />$499,500.00 <br />$ 55,500.00 <br />$ 21,503.00 <br /> <br />The $18,000.00 trade in credit for the old truck will be reviewed upon receipt of the new truck and the City <br />may elect to sell the old truck at auction. The current estimate is $30,000.00 for the old truck at auction. <br />Deputy ChiefMetz gave a PowerPoint presentation providing an overview of the proposed staffing for the <br />new truck and impacts on the City's ISO rating, which is attached to and made a part of these minutes. <br /> <br />Commission Discussion: Discussion ensued regarding ISO ratings, current staffing issues, municipal versus <br />county fire service issues, and the budgetary impacts regarding the required additional staffing of the new <br />truck will have on the next fiscal year. Commissioner Doerner voiced concerns regarding lack of information <br />provided by staff regarding the County's current service level with bucket trucks in our area. Commissioner <br />Hufford and Commissioner Doerner reiterated their concerns regarding the upcoming budgetary impacts of <br />the required additional staffing for the truck. <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Vice~ayorllartlDovedtoapprovellesolution05-1552 <br />and related Budget Transfer Ilequest #05-15. Motion <br />was seconded by Commissioner Cook. <br /> <br />Audience Participation: Two (2) audience comment request forms were submitted for Resolution 05-1552. <br />The following individuals came forward: <br /> <br />1) John Casselberry, 700 South Lost Lake Lane, voiced concerns regarding the staffing <br />requirements. <br /> <br />2) Bernard Fudim, 906 Niblick Drive, spoke in favor of Resolution 05-1552. <br /> <br />~otion carried 3 - 2 (Commissioner Doerner and <br />Commissioner Hufford dissenting) by roll call vote. <br /> <br />Iloll Call Vote ofthe City Commission: <br /> <br />Commissioner Doerner - No; Commissioner Cook - Yes; Commissioner Hufford - No; Vice Mayor <br />Hart - Yes; Mayor Goff - Yes.
