Clifton, Jr.
City Manager

DATE: November 12, 2004

SUBJECT: Legislative Priorities for 2005

The City must have the support of its state and federal legislative delegation to pursue
implementation of its goals and objectives. Some elements reflect directly upon state regulatory
or funding priorities and, in some instances, federal rules apply. Two-way direct communication
with its state and federal representatives is important to achieve this. In 2003, the City
Commission submitted a legislative priority list to the legislative delegation, with the intent to
continue this practice on an annual basis.

To this end, attached is a suggested list oflegislative priorities. It has been updated ITom last
year but a number of issues still remain. IF approved by the City Commission, these priorities
should be communicated in a formal manner to the delegation at their meeting on December 6th.
In addition, we need to be sure legislators are recognized for their efforts on behalf of the City.

Respectfully,

FWC:jr

cc: Thelma McPherson, City Clerk
Department Directors
