This is a sidewalk connection project which <br />connects the existing sidewalk along US 17/92 to the trail along Sunset Drive, through the <br />Home Depot parking lot, for approximately 1,000 feet. <br />Proposed improvements include an 8 -foot -wide concrete sidewalk connecting into the existing <br />sidewalk on the south side of the Home Depot entrance at US 17/92 and going through the <br />Home Depot parking lot and connecting to Sunset Drive. The improvements also include curb <br />and gutter. Handrail is proposed to create a barrier between the parking lot and the existing <br />wall, fence, or drop off, depending on the location. A reinforced retaining sidewalk is proposed <br />for approximately 20 feet due to the elevation of the proposed sidewalk which is below the <br />existing ground elevation. Drainage improvements include inlets. Bollards are proposed to <br />protect the relocated fire hydrant. Four existing light poles are to be removed. A raised <br />crosswalk is proposed across Sunset Drive. Pavement marking and signage is also included as <br />part of this project. <br />Other construction elements include mobilization, maintenance of traffic, erosion control, <br />clearing and grubbing, regular excavation, and sod. <br />The proposed improvements that are to be performed within Florida Department of <br />Transportation (Department) right-of-way include the connection to the existing sidewalk, curb, <br />and gutter. <br />The following items are non -participating and will be locally funded: <br />- 107-1 Litter Removal <br />- 107-2 Mowing <br />The difference in cost between the standard railing and the "black coated" railings will be the <br />City's (LOCAL GOVERNMENT) responsibility. Pay items are listed below: <br />- 515-1-2 Pipe Handrail — Guiderail, Aluminum (Standard versus Black Coating) <br />- 515-2-311 Pedestrian/Bicycle Railing, Aluminum Only, 42 -inch Type 1 (Standard versus Black <br />Coating) <br />All pedestrian facilities shall adhere to current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. <br />Utility coordination is required and has been coordinated. The Agency (LOCAL GOVERNMENT) <br />has received a permit exemption from the St. Johns Water Management District. Right-of-way <br />acquisition is complete. The City (LOCAL GOVERNMENT) shall construct the project within the <br />limits of the existing right-of-way or easements. <br />The LOCAL GOVERNMENT will be responsible for providing funds for any shortfalls, including <br />but not limited to cost over runs, Federal -Aid Ineligible Costs and Federal -Aid Non -Participating <br />
