Appendix A - Scope of Work
Award Number: 6N138
Recipient: City of Casselberry
Award Title: C -6N138 FY23 E -Sikes & Accessories
Award Period: 10/01/2024 - 03/31/2025
Problem Identification
The City of Casselberry hosts several community events throughout the year that require officer coverage from
the Casselberry Police Department (CPD). These events are typically held in spaces where patrol vehicles are
unable to travel, so officers providing security are either on foot or riding a standard pedal -driven bicycle. Officers
riding bikes can respond to calls and/or emergencies more quickly, over a greater distance, with less fatigue
than officers on foot. CPD's pedal -driven bikes not only need replacement, but also an upgrade. In addition,
there are not enough bikes for the officers at the events.
Scone of Work
The City of Casselberry Police Department will use JAG grant funds to purchase e -bikes with a police package
and patrol vehicle hitch racks. E -bikes will allow bike -trained officers to conduct patrols more efficiently. Officers
will be able to patrol larger areas in town and during events in a fraction of the time it takes riding the pedal -
driven bicycles. The e -bikes will allow officers to access locations that police cars cannot drive through or
effectively cover on foot. Riding e -bikes will also reduce officer fatigue once the officer reaches the intended
destination. The double hitch racks will be installed on patrol vehicles so that e -bikes can be transported to the
areas of need.
