Board Vice Chair Woody Bass inquired about upkeep of the equipment and
safety. Linda Moore stated safety features are built into the equipment and that no additional
training would be required for our staff members to maintain it, adding it is not motorized.
Board Chair Nick Santiago asked if this was going to be the only ADA equipment installed at
Wheel Park. Linda Moore responded yes. Board Member LeAnn Nash asked if this equipment
would be installed prior to the park opening. Linda Moore responded yes.
Board Chair Nick Santiago asked for comments from the public. There were none.
Board Vice Chair Woody Bass moved to provide a favorable recommendation to the City
Commission to approve the purchase of Landscape Structures ADA We -Go -Swing from Rep
Services, Inc. for the Wheel Park project Phase I in the amount of $94,011.60, as presented by
Linda Moore. Staff Reports
a) Park Improvements and Updates
Linda Moore, Recreation Manager, shared Chuck Smith, Parks & Facilities Superintendent, and
Parks crew member Jeff Napier did a fantastic job completing a screening project around the
back kiln room at the Art House. They designed and built the screening to be unobtrusive and
slightly mirror the outside cladding on the new Arts Center. The result is amazing and a great
upgrade to the aesthetic look of Lake Concord Park at a substantial cost savings to the City.
Additionally, she shared that annuals were planted and new mulch was installed at the
Promenade at Lake Concord Park. Also, a new non -motorized boat launch will be installed to
provide public access to Secret Lake and another boat launch will be installed at Sunset Park to
access Lake Concord but it will be for City use only.
b) Recreation Events and Arts Updates
Linda Moore shared upcoming events. The Classic Rock & Car Show is on Saturday, May 25
from 4 to 9 PM. Musical performers include local artists Sound Theory and Rockit Fly. There will
be more than 150 classic cars to view and food and product vendors on hand. Again this year
we will be honoring our veterans at the event. Singer/Songwriter Cat Ridgeway will headline
June's Food Truck event on Friday, June 14th from 6 to 9 p.m. There will be a bubble blast
theme with activities for kids and dogs alike.
