CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION
Minutes of August 12, 2024 — Workshop
development of Lake Concord Park into what it is today as an example of a project that had started
with a vision and had gone through difficult times but had ultimately been very successful.
Brenda Hendricks, 705 South Lost Lake Lane, stated she lives across the street from the property and
expressed concerns about what she felt was a lack of communication from the Commission during
this process. She spoke in favor of engaging an architect with restoration experience to move
forward with the Conceptual Plan but felt some of the proposed improvements and amenities were
not needed.
Mayor Henson clarified that the residents had actually been engaged in the discussions about the proposed
project and although they did not wholeheartedly endorse everything that was proposed, in general they were
in favor of the concept and the consensus was that it was a workable concept for the property.
CONSENSUS: The City Commission agreed by consensus to direct staff to pursue
solicitation for a continuing service contract with an architectural firm
having experience in historical restoration which will provide architectural
and engineering services for the project, and to assemble an internal
committee to work with the architect when selected to prioritize and
advance specific project plans, interface with strategic partners, apply for
grants as appropriate, assure synergy and consistency to the Concept Plan
and report from time to time to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
and the City Commission.
6. ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Henson adjourned the Workshop at 5:11 p.m.
DATE MINUTES APPROVED BY CITY COMMISSION:
ATTEST:
onna G. Gardner, CMC
City Clerk
