RESOLUTION 24-3449 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR <br />HIS DESIGNEE TO PREPARE AND SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR A <br />TRAIL -GO LOCAL TRAIL MANAGEMENT GRANT WITH THE <br />FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION VIA <br />THE OFFICE OF GREENWAYS AND TRAILS; PROVIDING FOR <br />CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City has a goal of becoming the most walkable, bikeable, rollable City in <br />Central Florida by the year 2040; and <br />WHEREAS, facilitating the extension and maintenance of the Casselberry Greenway <br />Trail and other City trails is one of several ways to support this aggressive goal; and <br />WHEREAS, each fiscal year, the Public Works & Utilities Department budgets for trail <br />maintenance; and <br />WHEREAS, the FY 2025 Trail Rehabilitation Project includes a combination of safety <br />improvements, repairs, and maintenance components that support the continued upkeep of the trails; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, via the Office of <br />Greenways and Trails, provides a TRAIL -GO Local Trail Management Grant that aids local <br />agencies in funding, of up to $200,000, for the operation and maintenance of trails located in the <br />Florida Greenways and Trails System (or within a five -mile buffer); and <br />WHEREAS, the TRAIL -GO grant can be used to fund safety improvements, repairs, <br />maintenance, and/or equipment purchases for local trails; and <br />WHEREAS, the TRAIL -GO grant prioritizes applications where a match of funding has <br />been identified; and <br />WHEREAS, as a requirement of the grant, the City Commission must officially authorize a <br />representative to prepare and submit an application on behalf of the City; and <br />WHEREAS, City staff recommends authorization for the City Manager or his designee to <br />prepare and submit an application utilizing projects identified as part of the FY 2025 Trail <br />Rehabilitation Project, attached as "Exhibit A", and other documentation necessary to apply for the <br />TRAIL -GO Local Trail Management Grant. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY <br />OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />
