RESOLUTION 24-3426 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE <br />EXECUTION OF AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH SEMINOLE <br />COUNTY, THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SEMINOLE COUNTY, AND THE <br />MUNICIPALITIES OF SEMINOLE COUNTY RELATING TO THE SHARED <br />DISTRIBUTION AND USE OF THE FOURTH GENERATION ONE CENT <br />LOCAL GOVERNMENT INFRASTRUCTURE SURTAX; PROVIDING FOR <br />CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Casselberry is committed to making the transportation system in <br />the City safer, more comfortable, and more connected for people of all ages and abilities across <br />multiple modes of travel; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Casselberry has set a goal to become the most walkable, rollable, <br />and bikeable City in Central Florida by 2040; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Casselberry has set a Vision Zero goal to eliminate traffic deaths <br />and severe injuries on all City -owned streets by 2030 and all other streets and roads within the City <br />by 2040; and <br />WHEREAS, Seminole County is considering a fourth generation infrastructure surtax <br />(sales tax) to be voted on by referendum on November 5, 2024 as part of the general election; and <br />WHEREAS, if passed, said sales tax would provide significant funding to the City of <br />Casselberry toward achieving its transportation objectives; and <br />WHEREAS, an Interlocal Agreement with Seminole County, the School Board of <br />Seminole County, and the other municipalities in Seminole County is necessary to allocate and <br />administer funding with the City of Casselberry; and <br />WHEREAS, Seminole County has proposed such an Interlocal Agreement, which includes <br />a list of potential projects submitted by the City of Casselberry; and <br />WHEREAS, City staff and the City Attorney have reviewed the Interlocal Agreement <br />and finds it sufficient to meet the needs of the City. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION L The City Commission of the City of Casselberry hereby approves the <br />Interlocal Agreement with Seminole County, the School Board of Seminole County, and the other <br />municipalities in Seminole County for the proposed fourth generation one cent local government <br />infrastructure surtax, attached as Attachment "A", and authorizes the Mayor to execute said <br />agreement on behalf of the City. <br />SECTION II. Conflicts. All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict with any of the <br />provisions of this Resolution are hereby repealed. <br />
