City of Casselberry <br />Parks and Recreation Advisory Board <br />Regular Meeting — February 13, 2024 <br />6. Advisory Board Member Annual Training <br />City Clerk Donna Gardner led Board Member training to include Sunshine Law, City Code and <br />public records. <br />7. Proposed Playground Equipment Recommendation — "Wheel Park" Phase I <br />Linda Moore, Recreation Manager, presented information regarding the proposed purchase of <br />Miracle Recreation playground equipment and artificial grass safety surface for Wheel Park <br />Phase I Project. <br />Upon conclusion of the presentation, Board Chair Nick Santiago opened the floor for comments <br />from the board. Board Vice Chair Woody Bass questioned how the playground equipment will <br />be cleaned overtime. Linda Moore stated it would be cleaned as needed and not on a specific <br />schedule. <br />Board Chair Nick Santiago asked for comments from the public. There were none. <br />Board Vice Chair Woody Bass moved to provide a favorable recommendation to the City <br />Commission to approve the purchase of the Miracle Recreation Playground equipment and <br />the artificial grass safety surface for the Wheel Park Phase I Project for a total amount of <br />$158,638.75, as presented by Linda Moore. Motion was seconded by Board Member LeeAnn <br />Nash. Motion carried unanimously 5-0 by voice vote. <br />8. Staff Reports <br />a) Park Improvements and Updates <br />Linda Moore, Recreation Manager, shared new benches have been installed at Secret Lake Park <br />by the basketball court and lake front. At Lake Concord Park underneath the Mobius, new <br />artificial grass was installed. Also, the new water fountain is currently being installed along with <br />two new trees that were donated by Friends of the Park. <br />Board Vice Chair Woody Bass inquired about the old playground equipment that is being <br />replaced at our Parks stating that he hopes it is being repurposed and not simply ending up in <br />the land fill. Linda Moore stated that the equipment will be scraped as it has reached its "life <br />use" thus will not be made available to the community for safety reasons. <br />
