CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION <br />Minutes of February 12, 2024 — Regular Meeting <br />Page 16 of 17 <br />Department Headquarters to representatives from the other cities and the County, adding that <br />they had all been impressed with the facility. <br />• Announced that due to a commitment made in November, she would be unable to attend the <br />next regularly scheduled Commission meeting on February 26r" but did not foresee any further <br />conflicts moving forward. <br />Vice Mayor/Commissioner Anthony Aramendia - Seat No. 1: <br />Attended the Council of Local Governments in Seminole County (CALNO) meeting on <br />February 711i which was hosted by the City of Casselberry at the new Police Department <br />Headquarters. A presentation about the new facility was given by City Manager Newlon and <br />Deputy Chief Becton with input from Chief Krantz, as well, who all did an amazing job. The <br />presentation was followed by a detailed tour of the facility led by Deputy Chief Becton. After <br />the presentation and tour, reports were given by each member organization present on events <br />and issues in their respective jurisdictions. <br />Facilitated Arts and Culture Day for Leadership Seminole on Friday, February ]s' which was <br />hosted by the City of Casselberry and featured the new Casselberry Arts Center, the Art House, <br />the Sculpture House, and the many sculptures throughout Lake Concord Park. He thanked <br />Recreation staff who had participated and were able to explain the City's many art programs, <br />and how the many sculptures were either bought, donated, or lent for display throughout the <br />park. <br />Also attended the Mardi Gras Festival on February 15Y in Lake Concord Park, and that event <br />was very well attended, and included an exhibit at the Art House of High School AP students' <br />artwork, and a crafts seminar in the Chambers. <br />Thanked the other members of the Commission who had attended the CALNO meeting and <br />the tour, noting he was especially glad that Commissioner Divita had an opportunity to attend <br />and learn a little about how CALNO works. <br />Mayor/Commissioner David Henson - Seat No. 5: <br />Reported that after the last Commission meeting he had an opportunity to travel to Tallahassee <br />to get information on pending legislation that might affect the City. He also had an opportunity <br />to meet with other members of the Tri -County League of Cities, and with Senator Jason <br />Brodeur and Representative David Smith regarding the City's concerns about some of the <br />pending bills and the adverse impacts they could have on the City and other local governments. <br />Recently attended the following events and meetings: Monthly Casselberry Chamber of <br />Commerce Luncheon on February 71'; CALNO meeting and tour of new Police Department <br />Headquarters on February 71'; MetroPlan Municipal Advisory Committee (MAC) meeting on <br />February 81r; and Leadership Seminole Arts and Culture Day at Lake Concord Park on February <br />Is'. He commended Commissioner Aramendia for always working towards making sure the <br />City of Casselberry is recognized as a leader in the Arts in Seminole County. <br />Commissioner Aramendia added a comment expressing appreciation to the City Clerk and staff for taking <br />on additional duties in support of him as CALNO Chair and in support of all other Commissioners who <br />have served on various outside boards in similar capacities over the years. <br />
