CASSELBERRY CITY COMMISSION Minutes of February 12, 2024 — Regular Meeting Page 16 of 17 Department Headquarters to representatives from the other cities and the County, adding that they had all been impressed with the facility. • Announced that due to a commitment made in November, she would be unable to attend the next regularly scheduled Commission meeting on February 26r" but did not foresee any further conflicts moving forward. Vice Mayor/Commissioner Anthony Aramendia - Seat No. 1: Attended the Council of Local Governments in Seminole County (CALNO) meeting on February 711i which was hosted by the City of Casselberry at the new Police Department Headquarters. A presentation about the new facility was given by City Manager Newlon and Deputy Chief Becton with input from Chief Krantz, as well, who all did an amazing job. The presentation was followed by a detailed tour of the facility led by Deputy Chief Becton. After the presentation and tour, reports were given by each member organization present on events and issues in their respective jurisdictions. Facilitated Arts and Culture Day for Leadership Seminole on Friday, February ]s' which was hosted by the City of Casselberry and featured the new Casselberry Arts Center, the Art House, the Sculpture House, and the many sculptures throughout Lake Concord Park. He thanked Recreation staff who had participated and were able to explain the City's many art programs, and how the many sculptures were either bought, donated, or lent for display throughout the park. Also attended the Mardi Gras Festival on February 15Y in Lake Concord Park, and that event was very well attended, and included an exhibit at the Art House of High School AP students' artwork, and a crafts seminar in the Chambers. Thanked the other members of the Commission who had attended the CALNO meeting and the tour, noting he was especially glad that Commissioner Divita had an opportunity to attend and learn a little about how CALNO works. Mayor/Commissioner David Henson - Seat No. 5: Reported that after the last Commission meeting he had an opportunity to travel to Tallahassee to get information on pending legislation that might affect the City. He also had an opportunity to meet with other members of the Tri -County League of Cities, and with Senator Jason Brodeur and Representative David Smith regarding the City's concerns about some of the pending bills and the adverse impacts they could have on the City and other local governments. Recently attended the following events and meetings: Monthly Casselberry Chamber of Commerce Luncheon on February 71'; CALNO meeting and tour of new Police Department Headquarters on February 71'; MetroPlan Municipal Advisory Committee (MAC) meeting on February 81r; and Leadership Seminole Arts and Culture Day at Lake Concord Park on February Is'. He commended Commissioner Aramendia for always working towards making sure the City of Casselberry is recognized as a leader in the Arts in Seminole County. Commissioner Aramendia added a comment expressing appreciation to the City Clerk and staff for taking on additional duties in support of him as CALNO Chair and in support of all other Commissioners who have served on various outside boards in similar capacities over the years.
